Hell, just rename them all, but with numbers only. You can say, “I grew up in 73418945.” What do you have against the number 2? Nothing worse than 2-phobic jerks...
To: gibsonguy
Ugh, how much money is going to be wasted on this BS? Way too much, obviously - of course, they could change all of the "squaw" place names 'on the cheap', by just adding a "k" to the end. Don't think anyone would be offended by "Squawk Lake" or "Squawk Mountain"...

The same thing I have against the numbers 0 and 6! :)

Good one. Your suggestion may be “too on the nose”.

Speaking with a forked tongue, high on fire water, pockets full of wampum, I’m sending up smoke signals:
“We need to eradicate all vestiges of the natives. Wipe them off the map, so to say. That’s the only way to protect them. They certainly can’t do it themselves.”

Replace all the offensive names with the word white, or with the name Trump, see how they like them apples.

These State History ‘Cleansers’ need to be at the bottom of Lake Butte des Morts!
The name ‘Butte des Morts’ was given by French colonial settlers. It means ‘Mound of the Dead,’ in reference to a nearby PREHISTORIC Indian burial mound.
(Pronounced: ‘Be-you-dey-more’)

The bottom picture looks like genocide and I’m not joking. I’m from Oklahoma, an Indian state if there ever was one. I’m probably of Native descent myself, as most of this state’s people proudly are. The “change” looks like the aftermath of a nuclear war of Yellowstone super eruption at best, but as the result of a National Socialist race murder at worst (!).
To: Diana in Wisconsin
LOL...so none left to be offended? That’s great news.

Been on the Lac Du Flambeau Rez more times than I can mention. Did not exactly see them putting their woman on a pedestal. Some good people on the Rez, lots of vets. However, despite the Casino, business investments, better schools it is still a dump for the most part. Lots of drunks and drugs. They have done a lot better on show casing their culture and history. But still a dump.
