A DHL cargo jet broke in half after sliding off the runway while landing at San Jose’s international airport.
The fire department says the Boeing 757 had taken off from Juan Santamaría Airport just west of the capital but decided to return after detecting a failure in the hydraulic system. Officials say that upon landing the aircraft skidded, turned and broke in two, exposing its cargo.

Luckily they didn't even make it off the ground, so they taxied around and the guy reloaded it.
They took off the second time.
But they just kept going up and up - the hard hit had damaged something and the pilot couldn't get the plane leveled off.
My friend thought for sure they were going to stall, but at the last instant the pilot did some maneuver and was able to get it back on the ground.
One of my uncles was an Alaskan Bush Pilot...................
I suspect that Boeing would like to have a look at that plane.
Going to need the 55 gallon drum of Flex Seal.
My dad is a tv repair man, he has an epic toolbox. I can fix it.

Whatever. I think they should patch up this plane and use it as Air Force One.
I would have no problem with that. None at all.
My son made his H.S. prom suit out of duct tape.

Don’t laugh. An Alaska bush pilot pretty much covered his plane with duct tape after a crash; friends dropped a case of it to him in the wild.

When I fly with them I’m pretty naive so I think everything is fine.
My friend next to me (who has flown in them 100x more than me) will be white-knuckling it on several of them.
And then later he sends me articles about yet another bush plane accident from up there.
Looks like a ruptured duck!
Humm clear sky’s assuming that photo was right after the crash. Obviously, it split in half due to the cockpit area climbing that bank. Will be interesting see the findings, assuming they aren’t tainted which can never be ruled out.
