A Chicago church has announced it will be 'fasting from whiteness' for Lent by abstaining from performing any hymns composed or written by Caucasian musicians. The First United Church of Oak Park announced that for 2022 the church would do a mix of 'giving something up' and 'taking something on' for Lent by not using music written or composed by white people but instead focus on music from other cultures.

To paraphrase Chris Rock - there are two kinds of churches: churches that white people go to, and churches that white people USED to go to.
Try to imagine the mindset of people who voluntarily attend and support that church. Then ask yourself if you would want anything beyond the most superficial and transient encounters with any of them. Would you ever trust any of them in any matter of significance?
I don’t think racism and hate belong in a Christian church, but hey, whatever floats their ignorant little boats.
Odd venue for promoting racial hatred.
Use some of the old kwanzaa tunes like the ones commie la “fweedumb” hawiss used to sing along to back in canaDUH as kid.

Presumably during Lent the First United Church of Oak Park pastors, who are white, will be wearing blackface.
They’ll ask the congregation to clap on 2 and 4, and the resulting circus will be a hoot to watch.

Why stop at HYMNS.¡¡ Delete Theologians as well, Luther, Calvin, all of the Popes, and Billy Graham, David Livingston, and continue on to St. Paul and St. Peter. I mean, if you want to go down this road, then CELEBRATE. Chicago, YOU are a BEACON, your peaceful streets SHINE..that YOU have discovered the real answer to life, is to reject everything that isn;t of a darker skin pigment. It has always been about the color of the epidermis, NOTHING in the heart or head. This works for me... Probably we can even put someone in the Supreme Court using this new methodology.
If that’s not racism, I don’t know what is.
Why do we tolerate racism by the negro community? Imagine if this story were about a Caucasian congregation banning negro hymns and “fasting from blackness”?
i wonder what the “caucasian grandmas” will be doing during these new services, (im gonna say it), or is this church an example where the women dress like Easter parade all year round, or, “culture adopted antebellum fashion”?
There ain’t no segregation in Heaven. There ain’t no ‘white’ or ‘black’ or other sections. That ‘pastor’ will have a very difficult time explaining what he has done on Earth when the time comes.............
That sounds a little racist there, chief. Still pissed off about those “raparations” you are trying to swindle out of the pockets of slaveless American families?
