Anti-Trump Republicans lining up for 2024 shadow primary

NEW YORK (AP) — Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan is planning trips to Iowa and New Hampshire. Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., is considering a rough timeline for a potential presidential announcement. And allies of Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., are openly talking up her White House prospects.

More than two years before the next presidential election, a shadow primary is already beginning to take shape among at least three fierce Republican critics of former President Donald Trump to determine who is best positioned to occupy the anti-Trump lane in 2024.

Their apparent willingness to run — even if Trump does, as is widely expected — represents a shift from previous years when “Never Trump” operatives failed to recruit any GOP officeholders to challenge the incumbent president. But with the 2024 contest almost in view, the question is no longer whether one of Trump’s prominent Republican critics will run, but how many will mount a campaign and how soon they will announce.

Those close to Cheney, Hogan and Kinzinger expect one of them, if not more, to launch a presidential bid after the 2022 midterms. While all three are nationally known to some degree, their goal would not necessarily be to win the presidency. Above all, they want to hinder Trump’s return to the White House

Let all of the Never Trumpers run for president as Republicans. They can all split the vote of minority of Republicans who don’t like Trump and gave us the Bidet Regime.

“While all three are nationally known to some degree,”

Yes, they’re known as laughing stocks. All 3 of them combined would MAYBE get 3 percent of the vote in the primaries. Even Pence would get more votes than these 3 together. All the non-Trump candidates combined won’t get more than 15 percent (probably not even that high) in any primary.

I live in NH. I will ask what they plan on doing with the agencies that spy on other senators and the citizens. I’ll ask if they plan on draining the swamp. I’ll ask them what about the January 6 prisoners that are being held without trial. Any more?

There isn't one critic on that list who is prominent. Not one of them amount to a pimple on Trump's ass. You could put them all together and they still don't amount to anything. They are uni-party losers who suck up to the radical left.

A question to ask of any “anti-Trump” Republican: Who do you know who could do the job as well or better?

You’ll get crickets.

Also getting a lot of unsolicited “surveys” from the Republican Party (TM) wanting to know what I think about the current state of America. I don’t trust any RINOs to not rat out America First constituency.

Round filed.

My take: If Trump decides to run, there is little doubt he will win the nomination.

LoL! Moe is in Iowa, Larry's considering an announcement, and Curly's looking at his prospects.

Whoever gets the nomination must be at least acceptable to the Trump fans!

Yep. And if Trump runs, nobody running against him, by virtue of their running against him, will be acceptable to the Trump fans.

There is an Never-Trump element in the Republican Party that will always oppose him but that element is miniscule compared to the Never-Hogan or the Never-Cheney or the Never-Kinzinger wing. These RINOs are delusional.

It is illegal to use voter registration lists for commercial or fundraising purposes. That includes political fundraising. They salt voter list with a few bogus registrations.

I forgot to note, as a former fundraiser and mailing list marketer, voter lists would be terrible fundraising lists. To many dead names on them.

A likely add to the list: Romney, Pence.

In 2016, there were roughly 2 dozen wannabes at the beginning of the Republican debates. That many, and more, will be sending out public relations trial balloons to test the political winds.
