The month starts off with three bright planets clustered low in our east-southeast sky just before sunrise. Venus, Saturn and Mars are within six degrees of separation, but each morning thereafter the configuration noticeably changes. Mars and Saturn approach each other more closely than the apparent diameter of the moon on April 5.

The main event comes during the final week of April with the approach of magnitude -2 Jupiter to magnitude -4 Venus, seven times brighter. Meanwhile, the crescent moon looms, passing below Saturn on April 25, Mars on April 26 and finally Jupiter and Venus on April 27. Make sure you have a wide-open view of the east-southeast horizon that morning with no obstructions and set your alarm clock for 5:15 a.m.

In a single glance, you'll see the three brightest objects in the night sky: a 12% illuminated crescent moon, Jupiter 4 degrees to its upper left and Venus hovering 5 degrees directly above the lunar sliver. Venus and Jupiter are separated by 3.2 degrees that morning, 2 degrees on April 28, and 1.3 degrees on the April 29.

I prefer the early morning planets. I’m often on my way to work before sunrise and headed east to the train station. I like to see the brilliance of the planets along with thin slivers of moon on my morning commute.
Oh good. Now peace will guide the planet.

That's a good observation. The moon in that part of the sky right now is running south or "below" where you think it should be (on the ecliptic) because the moon's orbit is tilted relative to the earth's equator by about five degrees. Two weeks or so from now it will be five or so degrees north or "above" where you'd think it should be. This also explains why we don't get lunar or solar eclipse every month. It's only when the moon is crossing the ecliptic when eclipses are possible.

Now we can see that it all depends on the woman, Venus:
Is the "E" for ecliptic? Esther? Because ancient traditions equate her to the morning star, Venus.
In any case, it looks like Jupiter and Mars are competing for her attention. Who will win?
Mars, of course, as one of the meaning origins for the name Mordecai. But wait... the Hebrew for Jewpiter is Tzedek, meaning righteousness, so who gets the girl?

It's an important LINK because it was the Sabbath for Parshat Balak, famous for this prophecy in the 7th... portion for that day:
17. I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.

Then the next day (outside of Israel) begins the readings for Parshat Pinchas, which includes this famous verse on the 1st day:
Num 25.12 Therefore, say, I hereby give him My covenant of peace.
Famous for its "broken vav" in "shalom".
Oh good. Now peace will guide the planet.
I've been meaning to write a thread about that broken letter. Suppose I need to do that because one of the layers of meanings in the name "Jerusalem" is to seek *double* peace, and there it is, when on the surface it looks like the opposite.
*July 16th, 2022 in Israel, the place in the Torah with the broken vav. In America, the place of the Messianic star prophecy.
It's a famous date (birthday of the Atomic Age):
