In a day and age where freedoms and liberties teeter on the brink of obscurity, one has to wonder how tyranny regained a foothold in the nation that birthed the American Revolution. The very Declaration that announced independence reads this:
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
The signers rightly assessed that when a government is tyrannical, it is not only the right of the people to abolish such a government, but it is their duty as well. John Hancock determined resistance to tyranny was a “social duty” belonging to each individual.
Yet, we have divorced ourselves from the custody of celestial articles like freedom and liberty. How so?
Edward Everett, famed orator and the lesser-known speaker at Gettysburg said, “Education is a better safeguard of liberty than a standing army”; but I highly doubt anyone would consider the American public “educated,” particularly in historical or philosophical matters. Samuel Adams said, “No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved.” Therefore, people will readily forfeit their liberties without controversy when “knowledge” is not “diffused.”

I think our biggest problem is with the public education system. The next biggest threat, but probably more immediate is the big “Social Governance” push that is being made ahead of the midterm elections.
There’s been a communist takeover going on in this country for decades if not for a century. The only good commie is a dead commie.
I read that as Tranny has taken a foothold
It is TIME to DownSize DC!.
Restore the Constitution!Size DC!
Why not start with the elimination of the US Department of Education. And half dozen more, unconstitutional, Totally Rogue others.
school choice
That's the fault of the parents who put their children in the public school system.
Everyone who participated in the Kenyanesian Usurpation.
That includes ALL of our elected and appointed.
That has too!
We got here because communists took over the educational system and produced enough morons for a takeover of the media.
The public has been dumbed down sufficiently for the political class to do as they please. In the blue part of Ohio, people don’t know or care what is going on, often claiming: “I’m not political”, as if it’s a virtue.
What people do care about is their own comfort. The Dems are making life tougher, and the poor, ignorant masses will punish them for that.
The left has taken over every major institutional group in the USA - education, charitable foundations, religions, sports, entertainment & news media, publishing, major internet sites, big business, end lastly, the government bureaucracy.
“Tyranny has taken a foothold; now whose fault is that?”
The Army of Satan, of course.
.
It happened when it became more important to people to be a part of the "In Crowd" than to be a part of the "High Morals Crowd".
Perhaps the hardest lesson in modern-day life - that duty includes learning self-accountability.
That can mean - when it is time to stand up, you better be prepared to stand up rather than look for a "safe place".
And, as you suggest, it is a lesson that begins with the parents if one is fortunate.

Democrat party voters are directly to blame and it is not relevant that they were propagandized into their beliefs. They need to face consequences for their actions.
The US revolutionary war era was a different time. The king was “over there,” the rebels were in north america, and the king’s supply chain was long and slow.
The principles of the DoI are good ones, but “the people” are too timid, afraid of personal independence maybe, to throw off anything. The government can have its way, and the most the people can do is ignore stupid orders. Most don’t do that. See masks in airports and pleading to the king to rescind the stupid order. But the people will follow and enforce it, even though its stupid.
Good quote, and your screenname brings to mind the old saying that a frog won’t jump out of a pot if the water heats up slowly. In a way, we’re all frogs in a pot, and now the water is boiling.
Which was certainly part of my reasoning when I picked the name.
OTH, there is no evidence the frog will choose to remain in the pot, and I like to think when he does jump he will be pi$$ed. Ever been kissed by an angry frog? {;^)
