"What hath God wrought"
Considering this was the beginning of electronic communication, it seems to be a fitting and ironic first message as it nearly perfectly describes the technology of today, much of which is used against us.
On May 24, 1844 Samuel F. B. Morse transmitted the first messageOffsite Link on a United States experimental telegraph line (Washington to Baltimore) using the “Morse code” that became standard in the United States and Canada. The message, taken from the Bible, Numbers 23:23, and recorded on a paper tapeOffsite Link, had been suggested to Morse by Annie Ellworth, the young daughter of a friend. It was “What hath God wrought?” The recipient of Morse’s message was Morse’s associate in developing the telegraph, machinist and inventor Alfred Vail.

THIS IS OFFICIALLY THE FIRST THREAD IN FR HISTORY TO HAVE A TITLE CONSISTING OF ONLY MORSE CODE.
At first, I thought Oops! he made some kind of mistake. His post didn’t copy properly. Then I looked at the content inside. Guess what the topic is? Samuel F.B. Morse, father of THE MORSE CODE! You were providing us an example of the code in use. Thus began my “Duh!” moment of du jour.
Interesting post.
clever.

Iffen you do it that way, it doesn’t matter whether it is SOSO or OSOS
Three fun facts. Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley, CA, is a popular street. The Pony Express lasted 10 years because the telegraph put them out of business. Laying telegraph cable across the Atlantic in 1865 was a big deal.
