Will Smith has finally issued a real apology for his atrocious behavior at the 94th Academy Awards on Sunday. Read:
“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive,” said Smith’s statement. “My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.”
“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris,” he added. “I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”
Smith also apologized to the Academy and others involved in the Oscars’ production.
At his Oscars acceptance speech for winning Best Actor, Will Smith was apologetic — but he did not issue an apology to Chris Rock.
“I want to be a vessel for love,” Smith claimed. ” I want to be an ambassador of that kind of love and care and concern,” he added.
“I want to apologize to the Academy,” he went on. “I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I’m not, I’m not, I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not, it’s not about winning an award for me. It’s about being able to shine light on all of the people.”
Chris Rock declined to press charges against Will Smith. It looks like Smith has finally apologized to Rock.
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences said on Monday that it “condemns” Will Smith’s actions at the Oscars and is launching a formal review into his misconduct.

I saw him on Carson with Frank Sinatra and Rickles was joking constantly on Frank about him getting mob guys to rough him up and acting slavishly... It was Rickles way of even insulting Sinatra.

BS apology - note that he’s casting the reaction as a morally acceptable reaction to a foul joke about “a medical condition” which it was not. Any attempt to say that is simply trying to justify the action.
A ‘work in progress’ - you’re in your 50’s, Will. Show more progress and quit making excuses.
Will Smith didn't think so at first! He actually laughed at the joke, at first.
It was only after he caught his wife rolling her eyes (I repeat: Rolling her eyes - not bursting into tears) that he suddenly decided that the joke was "beyond the pale."

oh my God- Jada is fine. She could buy a wig. She’s said she does not care what people think “of this bald head” so why Sunday night was this such a big deal?

When Chris said that wasn’t even a bad joke you knew he had some flame throwers he could have said but didn’t.

A couple of talking heads had said the fight was fake in the first place. When Smith’s apology came out they admitted they were wrong. But this could be just the next part of the publicity stunt.

They all rushed to console the big baby Will Smith, and then they applauded his Best Actor speech and partied with him afterward.
Chris was completely ignored.
I hope Chris doesn't apologize. He has nothing to apologize for.
I hope he's busy writing Will & Jada jokes. Plenty of material to use.

if chris rock hadn’t made fun of will smith’s wife’s medical condition, he wouldn’t have been slapped. personally i appreciate the man’s defending his wife. rock should be the one apologizing, but we all know that isn’t gonna happen. the moral of the story is NOT to defend your wife.
Meh. Two attention whores vying for relevance in a ceremony that is notorious for irrelevance. Who cares? Apparently, fewer people than have ever watched that debacle.
