Will Smith has finally issued a real apology for his atrocious behavior at the 94th Academy Awards on Sunday. Read:
“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive,” said Smith’s statement. “My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.”
“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris,” he added. “I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”
Smith also apologized to the Academy and others involved in the Oscars’ production.
At his Oscars acceptance speech for winning Best Actor, Will Smith was apologetic — but he did not issue an apology to Chris Rock.
“I want to be a vessel for love,” Smith claimed. ” I want to be an ambassador of that kind of love and care and concern,” he added.
“I want to apologize to the Academy,” he went on. “I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I’m not, I’m not, I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not, it’s not about winning an award for me. It’s about being able to shine light on all of the people.”
Chris Rock declined to press charges against Will Smith. It looks like Smith has finally apologized to Rock.
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences said on Monday that it “condemns” Will Smith’s actions at the Oscars and is launching a formal review into his misconduct.

Nobody ever asks Chris what he thinks of all this.

It is Hollywood, so it is all about theatrics. From what I’ve seen and read, I thought Rock deserved it.

What Smith did, even though he doesn’t realize it, was confirm in the minds of millions of Americans what they secretly believed about blacks. With his violent outburst he set back race relations at least a quarter century.....................
Chris’s joke was pretty tame compared to some of the roasts Dave Chappelle has laid out there.

Listening to Rick & Bubba Show on the radio morning drive to work, One of them said Smith would not have done what he did if it were THE Rock instead of Chris Rock up there on stage.................

He needs to drag his butt to Richard Williams a man who has had multiple strokes, a debilitating medical condition and offer a face to face apology. The evening was about the William’s family and accomplishments not the Smith family dysfunction and their issues.
She was wearing a tall wig, therefore she deals with her medical condition just fine.
And, she may have this condition but I believe she’s shaved her head for many years and you can see the hair. I question how severely bald she is.
Anyone who follows Hollywood knows that for publicity they play up every illness or mishap to an absurd degree.
I remember Mariah Cary claiming she almost fell out the door of a small plane, and Howard Stern did a bit saying the door probably hit her elbow slightly when they closed it and that became her almost falling out middair.
I buy none of it.
I think making fun of people’s medical conditions is in extremely poor taste. If Rock would apologize for that, then maybe we can start getting back to more civilized discourse that doesn’t involves getting people fired from their jobs.
Or maybe planned they are both getting a lot of free press out of this.
I didn’t find it disturbing at all, but then I am open-minded and do not judge other cultures.
Meh! They are loving the attention they are getting... this is all theater.
This spectacle is the only excitement they had.
