Not a full stop. Over loaded vehicle.
“Witnesses reported the (vehicle) made a ‘rolling stop’ at the stop sign and entered (the intersection),” before the violent collision with the truck that was hauling rocks, according to a statement from NTSB spokesperson Peter Knudson.
A merging lane that is head on?
So now the semi driver has a fatal accident on his record - and in his memories- because a young and very inexperienced girl couldn’t drive properly.
Sorry they died so violently. And stupidly.
A Chevy spark box on wheels
There but for the grace of God, go I.
When I was a kid, I drove like a real moron. It’s a wonder I didn’t kill anybody or myself.
I have a teenage daughter. These type of stories exceptionally troubling on a few levels. Truly praying for the families.
“Six teenage girls on a high school lunch break were killed”
Many schools have stopped that practice.
and at 16, it’ll be harder to sue for negligence having six in the car...
Don’t know about Oklahoma, but here’s the Maryland law: “Minor drivers are restricted about who they can have with them in automobiles. If you are under the age of 18 and have a provisional license, you may not drive a car with passengers under the age of 18 for the first 5 months (151 days) of having that license. “
Very very sad. Six grieving families…..
Very sad news... Between this and the young golfers killed in the crash earlier, heartbreaking tragedies.
May the Lord grant the repose of the souls of these poor girls and console their families. May He someday reunite all of them together with Him in Heaven forever.
The intersection almost appears as though the northbound traffic stops at the stop sign, and then are forced to hard right, almost a u-turn, to proceed southbound. If that is correct, it makes this intersection a disaster waiting to happen.
I took a streetview look. Visibility is not bad (we have many intersections much worse), but, the driver turning DOES need to pause and BE SURE what the southbound traffic is doing.
Prayers for all.
“That should be a flyover.” Yes. Very, very sad. Tragic. The loss of six innocent young ladies. The road design is poor.
“Country music star Blake Shelton, who has a 1,300 acre ranch in Tishomingo,”
WHO CARES! What does he have to do with ANYTHING!
I HATE these frickin celebrities sticking their noses into things that they have NOTHING to do with.
Did he do ANYTHING about this dangerous intersection in his community? NO!
I’ll bet the parents are “comforted” by the fact that “Blake Shelton” FEELS THEIR PAIN!
PUKE, spit!
I can’t seem to see the stop sign at the corner. Was it knocked down, or is it just too small to be visible in the photo?
Note to OK: You might want to revisit your Graduated Driver’s License regs...
