This is the most ridiculous government we’ve had in our country’s history.
Can we get the Kameltoe explanation?
Glad to see the Senate is attacking the really important issues of the day.
Bkmrk!
Just arbitrarily changing it instantly is a recipe for overwhelming the system.
Give a five-year notice so the digital infrastructure can be adjusted.
Because changing the clock on my bathroom is a pain in the neck. //Sarc
There was actually an article in my local paper explaining when, exactly to change the clocks. I can imagine there were idiots staying up to 2 AM to change their clocks “on time.”
And..I am sure there are a lot of digital clocks flashing this past week.
Its a good thing our Congress is all over this.
Keep it on standard time permanently.
Should have moved to standard time.
” states or territories which don’t already observe daylight saving time won’t be forced to do so.”
Mighty nice of them.
> Legislators unanimously voted to approve the Sunshine Protection Act... <
What are they protecting the sunshine against? Would there be less sunshine during the day if this measure fails?
(I don’t know if this would be a good law or not. But it sure has a silly, childish title. Unfortunately that’s the norm these days.)
well, back in the 70’s, the knock on DST full time was that in northern states, sunrise was so late, kids had to go to school in the dark.
I guess now we’ll just send them out the door with a flashlight. And a mask.
I hear kids are resilient these days; they’ll figure it out.
Texas needs its own time
Just do something so that its not freaking broad daylight at 9:00 pm anymore.
Standard time rocks. Especially for those of us in bed by 5:30. But seriously is there evidence for any of these benefits, outside of working the fields as early/late as possible or other outdoor work which was the original intent ? I know it doesn’t even save energy.
I'd rather have the dark in the evening than so late in the morning.
I believe we should be on Standard Time permanently.
Sleep experts say Senate has it wrong: Standard time, not daylight saving, should be permanent
“Standard time, for so many scientific and circadian rationales and public health safety reasons, should really be what the permanent time is set to.”

Such important issues Congress is focused on. They deserve another 21% raise.
I prefer lighter in the evenings. When I get home from work, there is still enough light to do something outside.
The winter months are so bloody depressing its not funny. I wake up before the sun comes up anyway.
Instead of this new law, why not simply make everyone get out of bed ONE HOUR EARLIER, and start work ONE HOUR EARLIER.
Of course, everyone could leave work ONE HOUR EARLIER and go to bed ONE HOUR EARLIER.
Call it the HOUR EARLIER PROTECTION ACT.
I’m surprise they didn’t want to spend a few trillion dollars to investigate if they could turn off and turn on the sun when they wanted. Personally, I don’t like changing between times. There is still the same amount of daylight each day.
