Former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) said she is considering a bid to fill the seat vacated last week by Rep. Don Young (R-AK).
Young died on Friday at the age of 88. He was the longest-serving member in the House of Representatives at the time of his death.
Young had held Alaska’s sole seat in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1973. He became Dean of the House following the 2017 retirement of Rep. John Conyers.
Young was asked by the New York Times in 2020 how long he intended to serve in the House. He responded: “God will decide that, or the voters.”
Palin signaled on Monday she is ready to throw her hat into the ring as speculation regarding who will replace Young grows.

Amen.
An unfortunate black mark against her. She had some animus towards Gov. Parnell.
My guess is that she has bad advisors.
Just look at Michelle Bachmann to see how that can work out if one is not careful about these things.

I’m not sure what you’re talking about. She’s not contemplating running for the Senate, this is the open House seat.
When the going gets tough, the tough get going, and the weak walk away. When Palin was viscously under attack, as governor, by her political opponents, she quit and walked away. No thanks.
Post #33 is for you, too.
Trump experienced 1000x what Palin experienced and he didn’t quit.
Step up, Sarah, America needs you urgently.
Trump is a billionaire. Palin was NOT wealthy while in office as Governor. She was having to personally pay (thanks to Alaska ethics laws regarding the Governor’s office) to defend herself against one frivolous lawsuit after another. She did not have the money to combat it while having to pay for the expenses of her own large family (including one with a special needs child). The goal was to bankrupt her and drive her deep into debt (millions) to pay attorneys’ fees.
You simply cannot compare Trump to Palin in that regard. He is rich and had armies of lawyers on retainer to fight such lawsuits. She was a working class individual. How’d you like to work a job where every day you were having to face more and more legal bills into the hundreds of thousands or millions and no way to stop it except to quit ? That was the choice she had, and unfortunately, she had to take it. Most of us here comprehend that. Others choose to make cheap shots at her while ignoring the real financial situation she was faced. Can you get along without money ?
Spot on.
Thank you.
She warned us about several things...she shares Trump’s spidey sense.
Spot on! This was the new DemonRAT tactic—grind one down through false litigation.
Sign a book deal to pay your attorneys.
She should have just signed a book deal to be able to pay the attorneys through the end of her term.
Should have just held on.
Instead she alienated Alaska voters for 20 years.
Of course, it was worse because she had bailed on another position previously.
Polls showed it was the resigning that lost her the support of Alaskan voters.
Polls showed it was the resigning that lost her the support of Alaskan voters.
She also made some horrific choices re: reality TV afterwards.
I think she hated Parnell cause he fired her some of her cronies.
As you know I was original fan when freepers outside AK had never heard of her, but I was “over her” a long time ago.
Has she ever apologized for endorsing dem scum for Governor?
Post #49. She didn’t alienate anyone as Governor, only those corrupt and degenerate individuals who already hated her.
Baloney.
