My rent in Brooklyn went from $2,300/mo at the time of my leasing signing in March 2021 to $3,200/mo if I want to renew my lease in April 2022.

Well, it is a big increase. I would probably complain too. But, as you say, they voted for it.
I just hope these losers don’t move to cheaper Red states. But they probably will.

The number of out of state license plates where I am is unbelievable.
Almost all from lib states.
Hopefully they don’t say, “This Red state is nice, but they need sensible laws about regulating rent, about quotas for LGBTQWERTY people, about the environment, about having fair taxes, about what type of car you can drive, about gun control, about... everything!”
while I don’t deny the migration is pretty dramatic, could it be that most of these people moving from Blue to Red states are actually sane, right-leaning people fed up with the bullsh!t from their state of origin?
NYC has RENT CONTROL. Unless he lives in a newly built luxury apartment, his rent cannot go up nearly that fast. And if he does live in a luxury apartment, he can afford the increase.

I’ve begun asking folks moving down here to the gulf coast which way they vote. I can’t believe how many willingly tell me instead of telling me to MMOB. Anyway, those who admit they vote red are welcomed. Those who admit they vote blue are promptly told, “in that case, you didn’t really move here, y’all metastasized here.”Only got in one argument out of the four times I got to say this.
Don’t forget parks, sidewalks, bike paths, city beautification programs, mandatory recycling. The list goes on and on.
When I moved to a cute little town 8 years ago, I couldnāt believe such a great place still existed in America. About 6 months after moving in, a neighbor asked me if I had voted in the primary for the townspeople, and I told her no. She was shocked!
I explained to her that I was still quite new and didnāt know one person from another yet, and so couldnāt tell who was worse or better for any particular office, but that in general, it looked like people had things under control. I told her, too, that it was such a nice place to live, I wanted to figure out how they did all that, and I didnāt want to mess it up. She thought THAT was pretty neat.
Fast forward 8 years, and all I hear is the word āprogressā anymore. My adopted little town will become just like every other suburb very soon, with out of control growth, and not enough infrastructure to keep it together.
