Pelosi claims government spending is ‘reducing the national debt,’ not causing inflation
Fox News ^ | 3/13/22 | Jessica Chasmar

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., argued Friday that global inflation "starts with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin," but that increased U.S. government spending on domestic social programs would help decrease the national debt and bring down inflation at home.

During the 2022 House Democratic Issues Conference, Pelosi referred to record gas prices in the U.S. as "Putin’s tax" and "Putin’s gas hike." She said passing components of President Biden’s multi-trillion-dollar social policy bill, called the Build Back Better Act, which is all but dead due to moderates' opposition, would make new investments in education and workforce development in a way that would eventually bring prices down.

"One other point that we'll make about it is that what we are doing in our legislation, what we would do in the Build Back Better - seventeen Nobel laureates in economics said that legislation does not increase inflation. It is non-inflationary because of the way it is written," Pelosi said.

"So when we're having this discussion, it's important to dispel some of those who say, well it's the government spending - no, it isn't," she continued. "The government spending is doing the exact reverse, reducing the national debt. It is not inflationary."

"We’re paying very close attention to it, but this starts with Putin because the global inflation for reasons beyond the gas price," she continued. "Global inflation is something that we have to deal with globally, but we have our responsibility to deal with it at home, and we have legislation that does just that, by increasing supply and, again, creating jobs in a way that is not adding to inflation."

Someone needs to ask this nitwit - why wasn't your secretive omnibus, which included a 21% pay raise, only $1.5 TRILLION instead of $5.5 TRILLION? She was at a RAT conference and, more than likely, got a golf clap for that nonsense.

I'd call her financially illiterate but seeing how well she's doing for herself just makes her guilty of unprecedented grand theft and compulsive lying.

As Marcus Aurelius and Socrates noted long ago it is not only useless but unbecoming to argue with inherently stupid people. At least in their times they did not allow senile old ladies the chance to hold high office and make policy.

And this is why our countries finances are so screwed up.
She couldn’t manage a small one person company, much less our government.

She thinks we’re stupid enough to believe that more deficit spending will reduce national debt.
And, far too many cases, she’s right.

Sure, people were more sensible in classical times. Remind me, who succeeded Marcus Aurelius? Could it have been ... Commodus?

There is one very insignificant detail always left out when talking about government spending.

When the government wants fiat money, it gives the Federal Reserve a note. Then the Fed prints the money, creates it out of thin air, and charges the government interest, so the note has to be paid back with interest to the Federal Reserve.

The Federal Reserve is not part of the Federal government, but is a private banking system controlled by some American banks along with foreign banks.

So, actually the Federal Reserve owns the United States.

JFK went around the Fed and started printing greenbacks backed by the faith and credit of the United States. That is probably the reason he was killed.

Abraham Lincoln went around the bankers and did the same thing, and he was killed.

Early in the Reagan presidency, there was some talk in the administration of getting rid of the Fed. The talk ceased after the assassination attempt.

who knew we could just borrow ourselves out of debt! Why did no one think of this before!

Another bullet point in the argument that liberals are morons.

The sad part is that there are people (i.e. CNN & MSNBC viewers) who believe the nonsense that the Dims are spewing.

Darn! If I knew spending more would decrease my debt I would have started spending more long ago.

Perhaps, but realize the total combined number of viewers of CNN, MSNBC, and FoxNews at any given time is about 20% of shows like Judge Judy. Their influence is magnified at places like FR.
