Just a tip, if a FReeper isn't aware:

Enter 'Gas' at your WAZE app, to find cheapest gas prices, where you're at.

Haven’t used Waze in awhile. I’ll have to try it.

Yes, my friends just advised me on that, I thought I’d share it here too, after sharing with friends and family.

People where I live aren’t into apps. Always had zero results from Gas Buddy. Paid $3.89 today. Diesel is up near $5/

I love this app for saving on gas. My code FC326K gets you a 15¢/gal bonus: https://upside.app.link/FC326K

Gas Buddy also works.

My experience with Gas Buddy is that it has become bloated with ads and the prices are often wrong.

Still, I got the gas buddy card and saved $0.25/gallon on gas last Friday.

"People where I live aren’t into apps."

I'm one of those old-fashioned folks who won't use apps. Don't want any of that crap on my iPhone. My phone is used for calls and the occasional text, which I despise. Hate smart phones, and will never waste money on another one. I only keep it for emergencies if away from home. Don't use social media either. Personal preference.

I use Gas Buddy too, just be leery if you see a price on Gas Buddy a dime lower then every body else in the neighborhood it probably because some one is lying and probably is the gas station owner himself, even though he won't admit it.

Love Waze! On your rush to buy the cheapest gas it will also show where the speed traps are!

Gas Buddy is a crowd sourced reporting app, so it’s only as good as the information that unauthorized people put in. I can’t imagine any of the other apps would be different.

Yeah, I always look for the big discounts. You have to be careful that a reported price isn’t too old. I chased down one before realizing that it was report 12 hours earlier. It was like 25 cents higher than the app showed.

I must live in an area where people don’t download apps like these. Meant for big cities maybe

Waze is good. It got me around Daytona Bike Week every day without ever hitting 4, 95 or 1. It also warned me about cops and accidents. I’ll give the gas a try. I normally just buy gas at BJ’s with my BJ’s card.

I have heard of this WAZES App, but we were taught to READ Maps and Map Books when I was a kid. Maybe Reading and Navigating is just too hard for our super smart youngins today??

How about going to even-odd days gas fill-ups. That way, people will use less gas as they carefully plan their auto use. With less gas use, less demand and the prices will lower.

My "modest proposal" for Electric vehicles:

Since most people can't afford those outrageously expensive electric vehicles and the hefty price to upgrade the electrical panels that goes with it, let's go with a mandate: Households with an income of over $100,000 will be required to purchase at least one electric vehicle in their new vehicle purchases. If your household has gas vehicles for transportation (exception: vehicles for business purposes), and one needs to be replaced, that vehicle must be an EV. That will potentially replace 38.52 million (31%) gas vehicles with EVs in an nation with 122.8 million households.

Gas Buddy appears to be driven by the users reporting the price of each gas station. And like you said it’s likely getting gamed by gas station owners and can also suffer from outdated prices not being updated.

I’ve seen outdated prices per gallon using the app, but it’s good for letting me know the cheapest gas stations near me. Which is a help because the closest gas station near my home always has the highest prices.

Pretty cool and it works. I found it a few weeks ago by accident.

It takes a week sometimes to get the $$$ posted to Your Account. But they will do it.

Also if You do the deal that Shell has (IIRC <$0.20> a gallon) it’s a separate deal so one could get like $0.50 a gallon or more off between the two.

There’s also discounts/rebates on Convenience and Grocery Stores as well.
