Beto O'Rourke, candidate for Texas Governor, received recognition from the Texas Hispanic/American Association. Beto spoke to the group and explained how he is part of the Texas Hispanic culture.
Beto explained that his great grandfather changed their surname from Gonzales-Rodriquez to escape discrimination. As poor cotton share croppers their family faced adversity with the Hispanic surname. All O'Rourkes were required to speak English only, at home and in public.
Prior to running for the Senate, Beto came out of the cultural closet and dropped the name Robert for Beaner, but soon realized that it would identify his Hispanic roots but would not provide the positive impression he desired. On advice of several irate relatives he changed his perferred moniker to Beto.
Recognizing his courage to come out of the cultural closet and rabid desire to represent the Hispanic community, the group presented Beto with a plaque with an AR-15 rifle machine gun replica mounted with the inscription: Robert Beto O'Rourke, El Puta Politico, 9 March 2022.
Beto admitted that he didn't read, write or speak Hispanic but struggled to thank the group for the award with a farewell of the few Hispanic words he knew: "Hotel, Taxi, Grasses Mucho".
El Puta Politico describes Beto to a tee!
Maybe La Leche League could honor him for his contribution to breastfeeding…
