A Florida special needs teacher who suffered serious injuries when she was attacked by a five-year-old, had been hospitalized by the same child several time before, her teacher's union claimed,

Last week Trishia Meadows, 43, a teacher at Pines Lakes Elementary in Pembroke Pines, needed to be stretchered out of her classroom after allegedly being attacked by the five-year-old special needs student.

According to a police report, the incident began when the troublesome child and a four-year-old student were throwing objects and flipping chairs in a pre-K classroom.

Meadows, whos is mom to a young daughter, took the rowdy five-year-old into a 'cool down' room, where she was attacked.

Ana Fusco, President of Broward Teachers Union, told WSVN.com that the child used all his strength to take Meadows down, injuring her so severely she will likely need surgery.

Meadows contacted authorities and when they found her she was breathing but unresponsive.

The teacher of 13 years was taken to a local hospital on a stretcher where she remains hospitalized.

Fusco says that Meadows' injuries from the attack were so severe that she had to be intubated.

Now Fusco is demanding answers from the school after claiming that Meadows has been attacked on three separate occasions by the same student.

I am a retired high school teacher. Many of you would be surprised what your little darlins' do in school. Generally when you get "the call" it is the worst they have gotten caught doing.

My experience is that most bad behavior is because of peer pressure and imitation/influence of social media challenges. One of the most recent, was assault an authority figure.

I used to drive a ‘skule bus’ for ‘special needs’ kids. The ‘enlightened’ term the ‘skule board’ used was ‘complex needs’. ‘Special needs’ was ‘insulting’, apparently. When I was a kid, we just simply called them ‘tards. The less nasty term was ‘slow’.

Coming up in five years since I drove such kids. I expect that it will soon be time for the ‘intelligentsia’ to brand then with a different term.

“Stretchered”? Good grief. Reminds me of a college roommate who described the fate of some historical figure by saying he was “firing squadded”.

A similar occurrence happened when my daughter was in Kindergarten in the early 90’s, also here in Florida.

There was a kid, a boy, that was absolutely out of control in her class. He would not sit still for a second, ran around the room screaming and yelling, fought with other kids and threw stuff. Just like the kid in this story.

My wife was a volunteer parent at the time and she and the teacher had to document everything this kid did before they would remove him from school and sent to a special needs school. ANd that took months!..................

> Give me a week. I could snap 95% of these little brats into shape. <

I taught for many years in an urban school district. One school where I taught was particularly chaotic...all except for one wing of the building. That wing housed the JROTC classes. During class changes, the JROTC instructor (a retired army sergeant) would stand in the hallway and glare at everyone. I never saw I fight in that hallway!

This was maybe 25 years ago. The JROTC program is gone now. I often wonder how that sergeant would have fared in today’s climate. I suspect not very well. A student would have challenged him. The sergeant would have gone hands-on. Then would come the lawsuit from the oh-so-offended parents.

And you can bet the administration would have backed the parents.

In Florida, the teacher has to document everything the kid does in order to just have a hearing to look at his behavior...............

Don't forget, in this case, the adult was also conditioned not to fight back, only defend.

The school district would not have her back and the media, even freepers would roast her if she cold cocked the little brat before he got her.

> why the child was not disciplined or kicked out <

As I have mentioned elsewhere, I was an urban school teacher for many years. Most states (including mine) have strict rules governing how “special needs” students can be disciplined.

My state says such students can be suspended for ten days maximum during any one school year. Principals save those days for really serious infractions, like bringing a weapon to school.

So if the kid throws a book at a teacher, or pushes another student to the floor, etc. - that’s not serious enough to spend one of those ten days on him.

Result? The kid quickly learns that he can do pretty much whatever he wants.

There are some kids, usually teens who believe it is their purpose in life to drive the teachers over the edge.

Now the kids are starting it earlier.

I suspect melanin-privilege is in force here.

As a teacher, I soon found that some students were more equal than others.

And they know it too!

I think we are heading for a 3-tiered system:

1) Home-schooling
2) School choice — parents can send kids to a private school, and the private school is allowed to kick out trouble-makers before they even cause serious trouble.
3) Government schools — these would be maximum security prisons for children age 5 and up. Lost causes. Warehouse the kid until they are old enough for the Big House. No decent parent would allow their child to attend a “public school”.

It’s one thing to be intellectually or physically challenged. It’s another for a school kid to be a budding serial killer or mass murderer.

We’ve got some truly dangerous little darlings in our classrooms today.
