Sorry forgot the VANITY TAG...
Steely Dan - King of the World
Hello one and all
Was it you I used to know
Can’t you hear me call
On this old ham radio
All I got to say
I’m alive and feeling fine
If you come my way
You can share my poison wine
No marigolds in the promised land
There’s a hole in the ground
Where they used to grow
Any man left on the Rio Grande
Is the king of the world
As far as I know
I don’t want your bread
I don’t need your helping hand
I can’t be no savage
I can’t be no highwayman
Show me where you are
You and I will spend this day
Driving in my car
Through the ruins of Santa Fe
No marigolds in the promised land
There’s a hole in the ground
Where they used to grow
Any man left on the Rio Grande
Is the king of the world
As far as I know
I’m reading last year’s papers
Although I don’t know why
Assassins cons and rapers
Might as well die
If you come around
No more pain and no regrets
Watch the sun go brown
Smoking cobalt cigarettes
There’s no need to hide
Taking things the easy way
If I stay inside
I might live til Saturday
No marigolds in the promised land
There’s a hole in the ground
Where they used to grow
Any man left on the Rio Grande
Is the king of the world
As far as I know

And get those old CB Radios out of the garage.................
Didn’t the government threaten ham operators after the protests over the election steal?
As if the average American has a license or a radio.
CQ CQ CQ..
Have to get the Hallicrafters 101 out of storage...
Is something like Baofeng UV-5R useful?
73s from KM4WTP....for portable anywhere comms, I run the Chameleon MPAS 2.0 system, with Yaesu 817, a couple of years ago I setup everything I needed in a Comms Go Bag, Antenna, radio, Battery, and 100 watt solar panel, cabling, etc...
Basically everything you need to get on the air from anywhere at anytime.
Unless it’s an old vacuum tube radio, the EMP may disable it.
You can pick up a lot with an old shortwave radio, but you can only hear what’s going on and tie two cans together with a string and make a walk-in talkie.
I’ve got two sets of two way radios. They come in handy when you’re caravaning through canyons. And we got a lot up here.
This just feels like a thread that needs FreeRepublic’s favorite saying for doom and gloom:
“AND SO IT BEGINS!”
Yep. That HF rig may very well come in handy.
I got my ticket after they dropped the CW. Damn, I don’t want to learn that.
Good Hunting... from Varmint Al
Just went to the ARRL website and saw no morse code requirement for any of the licences. Showing the last time was involved. Probabaly have the old grid dip meter up in the attic...
