No. EMP is overblown big time. Every nerd on the Internet wants to proclaim EMP is the worst thing for humanity. The histrionics of EMP has gotten completely out of control.

Unless you keep your portables in a large faraday cage. Then you can listen to static as your batteries die.

I have three old microwave ovens that I store my ham radios, the FRS radios, and CB radio. Also use large metal trash cans for large storage. Hopefully, A solar or nuclear EMP pulse will not damage my radios. A cheap way would be to use a cardboard box wrapped in aluminum foil.
