Matthew Perna was failed by the country he loved.
atthew Perna did nothing wrong on January 6, 2021.
The Pennsylvania man walked through an open door on the Senate side of the building shortly before 3 p.m. that afternoon. Capitol police, shown in surveillance video, stood by as hundreds of Americans entered the Capitol. Wearing a “Make America Great Again” sweatshirt, Perna, 37, left after about 20 minutes.
Less than two weeks later, Perna was ensnared in what the former top U.S. prosecutor called a “shock and awe” campaign to round up Trump supporters and deter them from demonstrating at Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20, 2021. After he discovered his image on the FBI’s most wanted list for January 6, Perna immediately contacted his local FBI office and voluntarily submitted to questioning; on January 18, six FBI agents arrested Perna at his home.
His life from that point turned into a nightmare. Perna was indicted by a grand jury in February 2021 on four counts including obstruction of an official proceeding and trespassing misdemeanors. Despite his nonviolent participation in the events of that day—he did not assault anyone, carry a weapon, or vandalize property—Biden’s Justice Department and local news media nonetheless made his life pure hell.
Whenever his hometown paper, the Sharon Herald, published an article on its social media account about Perna, the majority of replies were “horrible and brutal,” his aunt, Geri Perna, told me on the phone Sunday. After more than a year of legal and public torture, Perna saw no way out.
On Friday night, Matthew Perna hung himself in his garage.

Sure it is. Do you honestly think these Deep State a##holes went through all the machinations they did, just to let Trump waltz back in to the Oval in January 2025? This is going to be a bloody fight..
Desperate for help, Perna and his family reached out to numerous political leaders including Donald Trump.
Are we going to talk about thi?
So many heartless evil corrupt amoral people have so much blood on their hands
It’s not that simple. Lots of these people, including this guy, were arrested by Trump’s DOJ.
Re: Matthew Perna hung himself in his garage.
....Or maybe he was suicided.
What kind of champion is going to sit on his hands for years like this and what kind of supporters just let him do that?
If Trump were the hero he is held up to be, why is he waiting four years and allowing all of these people to suffer without support? What about all the money raised for their defense? Where's the rallies for their defense? Where are the politicians demanding answers about the millions of dollars and thousands of man hours spent pursuing people for trespassing charges? Why are thousands of hours of videotape of a public space still being withheld from defendants?
Much more could be done by officials in the public sphere to counteract this narrative of January 6th being an unprecidented attempt at overthrowing the government and not a four hour, largely nonviolent, civil disturbance.
Trump can do nothing until he is President.

Read ISAIAH 59. The LORD takes care of them.

So why didn’t Trump pardon them all at the time? Frankly, if anything, his country didn’t abandon him. Trump did.
Fine you can vote for Bidet or Hillary, you have it all figured out.
So explain to me why Trump didn’t issue a blanket pardon at the time? Otherwise, without rational explanation, he abandoned them.
Sounds like the Soviet Union.
You and me, both.
I no longer trust or believe in the gov’t, at any level.
Between the Covid lies and Jan 6th persecutions, among many others, the gov’t is totally corrupt, out of control, and the Tree of Liberty needs serious watering.
I hope they can hold on. Trump is going to pardon them all. But that is a long time from now.
I’m going to research them and start writing letters to encourage them.
“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms.”
– Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, December 20, 1787

Perhaps he was listening to you and he thought as you did in the post below. FRAUD!

I have acquired many “clues”. I have no love for violence, riots or destruction. I have no love for those who disobey law enforcement. The “patriots” acted like BLM and ANTIFA. Other than not burning the building, virtually everything else was the same.

Good grief! Is that you Joy Behar?? Stop that nonsense... Trump was being impeached and torn to pieces... you’re talking about 2 damn weeks that he had after this! NO ONE knew who was innocent then. Hell we still don’t.
Too bad he didn’t ask me about whether attendance at the rally was a good idea.
Rest in peace, Matthew.
According to some here. any Jan 6th participant was innocent and more importantly, a patriot. All he had to do was turn to Mark Meadows and tell him to get it done, 2 weeks or not. Preparation of a document such as that would have taken hours at most. So again, if this chap was abandoned, then it was Trump who abandoned him.
