This is not a good analogy. Rommel was a soldier. He followed orders. And did it honorably and magnificently within the rules of war. Trump calling Putin smart and savvy with regards to the invasion of Ukraine was just dumb. Putin has proved to be neither
A few things that have been ongoing in Ukraine for a long time.
1. NATO was threatening Russia by building up its forces on Ukraine’s eastern flank. Which is against NATO rules.
2. Ukraine is a corrupt puppet state exploited by globalists for money laundering operations and other crimes. Including many big US politicians and figures including Clintons and Bitems.
3. Ukraine said it wants to start its own nuke weapons program.
4. Ukraine has about 7 bioweapons labs run by the US DoD and Fauci and Daszk were involved. Doing gain of function.
5.The CIA training nazi battalions since 2015; I assume the Azov battalions.
6. Ukraine is a hub of human trafficking. (generally covered in #2). Very likely hub of drug trafficking as well; Putin mentioned he doesn’t want to deal with “drug addicts and Nazis”.
7. Ukraine funnels massive $$$ to Soros NGOs and probably other Soros projects. $$ mostly “foreign aid” $ from US, and maybe other sources.
8. Ukraine was involved in the 2020 election theft, the Crowdstrike servers are in Ukraine.
Wonder who the sockpuppet is - socmedia kiddies, or someone else? 
We don’t hate Russia. We hate the Russian governments since 1917, whose primary victims have been the Russian people themselves.
It’s would be a good time to address some internal and regional issues, while taking a short break from installing a New World Order. Maybe finish the wall and crank up energy production. If we just have to do something militarily, there’s a dictator to our immediate North we could depose.

Trump called Putin "savvy" for duping Biden and playing to his weaknesses.
It's unfortunate that it was over Ukraine, but Biden was extremely personally vulnerable regarding Ukraine (the Big Guy), and Putin knew that. While Putin was building up forces, Biden was threatening "$2 worth of sanctions" as President Trump put it, and sending Harris to Germany to push the sanctions even though Biden himself said that "sanctions weren't intended to stop Putin."
So it's my belief that President Trump wasn't saying that Putin was savvy for invading Ukraine, he was savvy for head-faking Biden into moving tentatively while Putin was deploying his forces.

Russia was forced into action thanks to NATO and thanks to the Biden’s and other DC swamp rats who personally made MILLIONS off of corrupt Ukrainian officials.
Your point comparing Putin with Kennedy is spot on!
It doesn’t matter; Russia invaded a sovereign nation which, like Russia, is largely Christian. Putin and the leadership is responsible for the death and destruction in Ukraine. I would not rule out war crimes trials like the Germans and Japanese faced. This was not a just war. I was, and still am, sympathetic to Russia’s legitimate concerns about not being encircled by the NATO alliance. However, this war was wrong.
