We have a brain-dead President (that any sentient being can see is not capable of anything) saying over and over that “Putin better not invade, or he will pay” and now that Putin invaded, what will Biden and his team do-draw another line in the dirt?
So now, he has been exposed to the world as a brainless, senile, blustering fool who made all his bold threats right after the sun went down each night.
If we left it at that, and the only consequence is that everyone sees him as an empty hat that can be driven around and over at will, I could live with that national embarrassment.
The real problem is, he has three years left and a whole host of political scum who are really running things, the worst kind of political scum, the kind who want to see this country crash and burn.
But the only thing they fear more than watching the country crash and burn (which, after all, they pine for) is for them to lose political influence and political power.
They see doing nothing (which we should have done in the first place without all the stupid, blustery threats and commentary) as more dreadful and deleterious to their grip on power than doing...”something”.
And it is that...that “something” that fills me with dread.
They don’t have enough intelligence or common sense to cut their losses. They have shown repeatedly that they will freely throw ANY action of ANY kind after bad action. (Never mind wishing for good action being thrown after bad action!) Doubling down is the only way they know how to deal with things like this.
And that is what concerns me.
And the Chicoms watch all of this and derive their conclusions from it.
Don’t get me wrong. I am not saying we should have done anything in Ukraine beyond the political, because the Chicoms have their own timetable for Taiwan that is independent of this.
This just makes it easier for the Chicoms to plan, that’s all.

I remember when gas cost under $.30 per gallon, and dropped below $.20/gallon when gas wars happened. The standard of living of the average American is significantly higher now than it was back then. Loads more consumer goods, nicer cars, fancier houses, a larger percent of people's budgets available to spend on recreation.
Outside of runaway inflation which happens with a collapse of a nation's currency, for most people inflation is just something to learn to adapt to. I see no risk of a collapse of the US dollar as a result of today's events.
General inflation probably has the biggest impact on people incapable of understanding the difference between necessities and luxuries. Starbucks revenue is close to $30 billion. How much is spent on gym memberships?

You should watch one of the videos on youtube showing the time lapse of the map of Europe for the past 1,000 years. Then explain the logic of why you'd believe that the map of the countries' boundaries as it existed yesterday should be the map that should remain through the end of time.

BTW, it looks like the value of the stocks I hold ended up quite a bit today. It seems like hours ago that you were all upset about how the invasion would affect the stock market. Whether the market moved up or down today, and what it does tomorrow, or next week, or next month. or over the next few years doesn't affect what I think. I doubt that my day-to-day, month-to-month, year-to-year life would be affected by it either way. My goal is to live solely on my Social Security checks, and only spend about 2/3 of that, saving the other 1/3. There's no guarantee on that of course. The only thing you can know for sure about the future is that it will be different than you expect.
