(AP) — The three men convicted of murder in Ahmaud Arbery’s fatal shooting were found guilty of federal hate crimes Tuesday for violating Arbery’s civil rights and targeting him because he was Black.
The jury reached its decision after several hours of deliberation on the charges against father and son Greg and Travis McMichael and neighbor William “Roddie” Bryan.
During the trial, prosecutors showed roughly two dozen text messages and social media posts in which Travis McMichael and Bryan used racist slurs and made derogatory comments about Black people. The FBI wasn’t able to access Greg McMichael’s phone because it was encrypted.
The McMichaels grabbed guns and jumped in a pickup truck to pursue Arbery after seeing him running in their neighborhood outside the Georgia port city of Brunswick in February 2020. Bryan joined the pursuit in his own pickup and recorded cellphone video of Travis McMichael fatally shooting Arbery. The killing became part of a larger national reckoning on racial injustice after the graphic video leaked online two months later.
Defense attorneys contended the three didn’t chase and kill Arbery because of his race but acted on the earnest, though erroneous, suspicion that Arbery had committed crimes in their neighborhood.

What they says matters. If they didn’t feel he had an escape route, that lowers their legally available use of force. And they said he was trapped like a rat.

At the time of the incident, Georgia law allowed a citizen's arrest provided there was reasonable suspicion a felony had been committed; in GA, criminal trespass is a misdemeanor.
Arbery was a dirt bag, but their, "reasonable suspicion," that a felony had been committed basically boiled down to, "You ain't from around here, boy."
I think that is the focus of most of you who thinks what these men have been put through is fair.
You are concerned about how these men make *YOU* look rather than examining the facts objectively.
Because you correctly perceive that the lying liberal media system will use these men to portray everyone as racist, you want them punished so as to create the illusion of distance between you and them.
I admit the men showed poor judgement in not realizing how political it is to do anything at all against a black criminal, but that does not change the facts of the case.
Arbery was a piece of sh*t criminal who deserved to get shot for attacking a man holding a gun. Trying to rewind back to the reasons they wanted to stop him is irrelevant to what happened.
Arbery attacked a man holding a gun and was shot because he attacked a man holding a gun. He would have been shot if he were white, but the media liars made it racial because that's what they always do.
"Racism" and the accusations of "racism" keep liberals in power in Washington DC, and never forget it is always about power and nothing else.

Defense attorneys say the McMichaels and Bryan were legally justified in chasing and trying to detain Arbery because they reasonably thought he was a burglar. Greg McMichael told police Travis McMichael, 35, fired in self-defense as Arbery attacked with his fists and tried to grab his son’s shotgun.
“He had an opportunity to flee further, you know,” Greg McMichael told Nohilly. “We had chased him around the neighborhood a bit, but he wasn’t winded at all. I mean this guy was, he was in good shape.”
You must never have known a criminal.
Defending yourself against a violent psycho criminal is not "murder", Despite what they lying courts and the lying media would try to make us believe.
Arbery attacked him, and Arbery was clearly much younger and stronger. If the guy with the gun hadn't fought back, he might very well have been killed.
So the guy with the camera "murdered" Arbery? How did he do that?

And now you are lying. The video shows Arbery running towards *THEM*. We see no video of them chasing him down in a pickup with a shotgun.
Why do you keep repeating media lies? Is not the truth good enough for you?
It won't help to spread the lie. It helps to show the truth.
Arbery was a psychotic, as in he was *DIAGNOSED* as a psychotic. He was a known thief. He was a known violent thief. He was high on drugs at the time of the incident.
He was a piece of sh*t and he needed to have been shot. The only unfortunate thing about Arbery's death is that three innocent men have to be sacrificed to the gods of political correctness to alleviate the sensitivities of the beta men of the world who are afraid of the truth.
These 3 guys chased down a black guy and shot him when he resisted their pursuit.
The video shows Arbery chasing them down. Arbery was not being held or threatened when *HE* chose to run at a man, punch that man in the face, and attempt to wrestle the gun away from him.
So why are you saying they chased him down when we see no evidence of it, and in fact see the evidence of the very opposite of that?
