A California dog was reunited with her family this month after being missing for 12 years, according to authorities.

The canine, Zoey, 13, had been dropped off on a rural property outside Stockton when she was found by someone who called the authorities on Feb. 10, saying she “appeared old and unwell,” the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook.

Animal Service Officer Brandon Levin retrieved the dog, scanned her microchip, and determined that she had been reported missing in 2010 from Lafayette, California, about 60 miles away from where she was found, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Honestly I am still in shock,” said Zoey’s owner, Michelle.

Zoey had been missing for so long that in 2015 the company that manufactures her microchip listed her as “deceased” in their records, the sheriff’s office said.

“We got her at the pound when she was 6 months old with her twin sister … they were with us for about six months, and then we went to the store for about 20 minutes and came back, and she was missing,” Michelle said of the canine.

All well and good but after 12 years this dog cannot remember his original family and owners. They don’t remember him that ran off. They prolly don’t want this dumb useless hound.

Perhaps the family that had the dog could not afford to feed him because of the rising prices.

Someone took her, kept her, didn’t bother to return her to her chip-registered rightful owners and then threw her away when she became old and sick.
Thank God her real owners have her now and can care for her.
Bet on it.
Hope karma is watching.

The most likely answer is the family entered a time portal for what seemed like a few minutes, but back in this Universe, twelves years had passed on Earth.

We got our dog as a rescue after being found in some farm country on the other side of the state. He is 12+ years old now. He isn’t chipped, but if he was - they would have to fight me for him.

After 12 years absence, the owners do not want this retard traitor run a way dog. They have other pets now that are loyal. Loyal cats, dogs, hamsters, bunny rabbits, parrots.

Well, there is a literary precedent that destroys your thought

Ulyesses returned to Greece to find that no one remembered him except his dog. That event occurred several thousand years ago

That also says that you are not only wrong but have been for millennia

Or Chet.

;D

Sounds more like someone woke up on a Monday morning, in the mood for a little masochism, to me.

In the video with the article, the lady says that she intends to get the dog healthy, and let it live out its life with them.

Although she did not say it, it sounded like the dog’s sister, who had been adopted with her, had already passed away. That would have been a rare reunion.
