NBC has publicly addressed its low-rated broadcast of the Genocide Games, with a senior network executive describing the situation as “difficult” while blaming the pandemic for the low level of enthusiasm.
In a conference call with reporters Thursday, NBC Sports chairman Pete Bevacqua laid out a grim assessment of the past week.
“For us, it’s been difficult. There’s no way around this,” he said, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.
“The fact that we’ve been able to bring these Games to life during a pandemic with only a six-month window between the two [Olympics], the ratings are — of course we always want to have the ratings better — but the ratings for these Games, as I said, are about where we thought they’d be.”
He blamed COVID restrictions for the lack of “passion and excitement” that typically surrounds the Olympics.
“It’s no secret that athletes in masks, venues without spectators, so much of the passion and excitement, those great moments of Olympic athletes hugging their family and friends and spouses and partners, so much of that magic is just out of necessity not present.”
Bevacqua didn’t appear to address widespread public disgust at NBC for glorifying China and sidestepping the CCP’s numerous human rights atrocities.
As Breitbart News reported, TV ratings for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games have reached catastrophic lows, with NBC on track for lowest-rated Winter Games in history.
NBC is using the Olympics to aggressively push the Peacock streaming service, which has failed to ignite much consumer enthusiasm since it was launched in 2020.

Liberalism is like cancer. Once its in you, no matter how many times you get rid of it, its just a matter of time before it destroys you!
The Host Country for the next Olympics will have to promise to draft citizens and require them to fill the stadiums.
Mandatory attendance—coming to a kleptocracy near you!
Fifteen minutes of sheer heart stopping excitement. How did you deal with it?
“Embrace the suck.”
Something they don’t mention is that we are preparing to protest this fascist government led by a deranged geriatic communist. We are in a civil war.
I'm getting amped up for tonight's game, Gonzaga vs. St. Mary's. Probably the fiercest rivalry in the West Coast Conference. St. Mary's has a good squad, though the Zags are just too loaded.
Keep an eye on Chet Holmgren, the freshman phenom for the Zags. He'll likely be the top choice in this year's NBA draft.
And the Conf Champs STILL had those self-righteous lecturing libelous statements painted big on the sidelines and end zones. Counting on the same at the final SB.
I can do without the NFL. I miss it, but I don’t need it. Mom loves it and she has nothing left.
It isn't "out of necessity", jackass.
The NFL and Goodell declared a war on white people.
No way I watch any games until Goodell is gone and the league apologizes for its anti-white racism.
I like it too. And I’m continuing my life-long trAdition after seeing the positives at the Summer version.
It’s better than NFL where they keep accusing us.
As for pontificating about being in China and the poor (Moslem) minorities….I hear you, but if Germany can host the entirety of Olympics in 1936, I think we can put up with a little.
Plus, why is it so many got MAD about Carter skipping the Russian Olympics? That’s what I’ve heard on FR itself, that we shouldn’t have skipped it.
Nevermind all the other times it’s been hosted by a horrid country, including Beijing itself in 2008 (given FAR too much credit for its Opening).
Can we at least be consistent?
Will be cheering for Bengals, as an AFC North “fan” (stated loosely since all this kneeling and libeling).
They had to have known this might happen when they signed the contract.
This oblivious "network executive" must be getting highly paid to spew
obvious propaganda.
Alternatively, this anonymous "network executive" has the brain density
of a rock.
I haven’t watched at all. And I’ve watched the games since Calgary in 1988.
Well, the cinematography of Italy’s female competitor was top notch. I had no idea that there are timeouts in curling. We think that Cornhole should be an Olympic sport if curling is.
“the magic is just out of necessity not present.” Dementia really messes with a person’s thinking.
There are probably four people watching the Olympics today on NBC.
I watched the USA Women's curling team yesterday as they beat the ChiCom team. Otherwise, trying to stay away.
LOL! I have to admit to watching curling and actually enjoying it. I only do it every 4 years at the Winter Olympics; but, I actually got hubby to watch the last ones. He actually shouted, "He got a 5", when Schuster, basically, won the Gold from the Swedes. That was actually a big upset.
There is something mesmerizing about curling. Not only did my hubby end up watching last Olympics; but, my youngest daughter also got hooked. I dunno, maybe watching losing baseball teams (in my youth, the Cubs; when I moved to Seattle area, the Mariners) my entire life prepared me for Curling.
There were a couple of sports that were introduced as appearance only, racquetball and women's softball that were discontinued.
The rationale behind the acceptance of new sports is how popular they are throughout the Olympic communities.
Who knows, Cornhole could very well become an introductory sport the way the Olympics has been devolving.......
I can't wait for competitive beer pong.........LOL!
I watch curling and hockey nothing else
