NBC has publicly addressed its low-rated broadcast of the Genocide Games, with a senior network executive describing the situation as “difficult” while blaming the pandemic for the low level of enthusiasm.
In a conference call with reporters Thursday, NBC Sports chairman Pete Bevacqua laid out a grim assessment of the past week.
“For us, it’s been difficult. There’s no way around this,” he said, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.
“The fact that we’ve been able to bring these Games to life during a pandemic with only a six-month window between the two [Olympics], the ratings are — of course we always want to have the ratings better — but the ratings for these Games, as I said, are about where we thought they’d be.”
He blamed COVID restrictions for the lack of “passion and excitement” that typically surrounds the Olympics.
“It’s no secret that athletes in masks, venues without spectators, so much of the passion and excitement, those great moments of Olympic athletes hugging their family and friends and spouses and partners, so much of that magic is just out of necessity not present.”
Bevacqua didn’t appear to address widespread public disgust at NBC for glorifying China and sidestepping the CCP’s numerous human rights atrocities.
As Breitbart News reported, TV ratings for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games have reached catastrophic lows, with NBC on track for lowest-rated Winter Games in history.
NBC is using the Olympics to aggressively push the Peacock streaming service, which has failed to ignite much consumer enthusiasm since it was launched in 2020.

I have watched three games in three years, the Bengals playoff run. Being a fifty year suffering Bengal fan, I will make one more exception. Recording the game and skipping all the network, commercial and half time racist BS will make the coverage nearly sufferable.

That’s one step below blaming global warming.
The last sentence is the key. Getting people to buy the streaming service from ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, ESPN, AMC, Discovery, Disney, HBO, Showtime, etc. is not going to be an easy sell. We already pay enough for our combined streaming or cable services. Spending another hundred dollars a month is too much to ask at this point. Most middle class households are already paying well over $100 a month for Internet and TV.
NBC has also alienated itself from half of the American population because of its politics. I wouldn’t give most of the mainstream media an extra penny. I suspect I’m not alone.

That’s a shame for the kids who have worked so hard to compete, but I haven’t watched them at all. Commies have to politicize everything they touch.

Sheesh. I dumped TV in 1997. My only exposure to the “big three” is through youtube videos and free streaming off Amazon Prime. I literally had never heard of this show.
I had to ask Google if the Olympics had started yet.
If only they could’ve paid airports to show the games, then their numbers would’ve looked better. Except cnn wouldn’t given up their main source of viewers.
I own 2 TVs and they have been unplugged since Obama.
I’m enjoying the games. Watching womens now. Watched the Czechs beat the Dopers in hockey earlier and waiting for US hockey to start.
