The Umpire needs to enforce it each time he steps out. A pitcher can throw a strike when he steps out.
ha!!!...when i typed that, Altuve was exactly who i was thinking of!!...
Same difference. This way there are more jobs for the players.
The DH has always been a bad idea. Pitchers that could hit were a plus.
Pitchers that could hit were a plus.
That’s why Ohtani is the best thing to happen to baseball in years.
Putting a runner on 2nd in extra innings was interesting. They should increase the concept.
Inning 11, put a runner on 2nd and 3rd and pull one pitching team player from a position.
Inning 12, put a runner on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and pull another pitching team player from a position.
Inning 13, the showdown — only allow one fielder and pitcher to face one batter. If neither team can score, declare the game a tie and go home.
I live in Palm Beach County. Three stadiums and 5 teams in the area. Lot’s of players and players families here. Today might be a big day with the talks as it is “drop dead” on having a full spring and season with the schedules as set. After this weekend the schedules and money become real issues. With that said, I’ve been told the two groups are not even close to coming together.
I preferred the NL way of no DH. When the Astros moved to the AL, I started watching AL baseball and got used to the DH and missed it when the Astros played in NL parks. I no longer watch the MLBLM anymore, so I really don’t care what they do now.
Pity. I like to watch pitchers bat.
So washed up first basemen have renewed careers.
It possibly means that the only level requiting pitchers to bat is the MLB NL.
Two minutes, 45 seconds commercial breaks between half innings might have more to do with the length of the games.
There are 15 or 16 such breaks in a nine inning game so at least 41 minutes per game.

Major League Baseball could bring back a few things to make the game played the way it was meant to be:
Bring back “soaking,” “patching,” or “plugging" as it was known, where outfielders could put out base runners by hitting them with the ball.
Bring back the spitball which wasn't banned until 1920 (and grandfathered until 1934 for spitballers in the league when the ban was implemented).
Remove any restrictions about the use of performance enhancing drugs because they were not part of the early rules.
That rule was silly for anything above Little League.
After the whole All-Star Game dust up last year, I did not listen to any more MLB ball. Instead, I purchased a season pass to MiLB.TV for $39.99 and found it to very good - and there are so many teams to choose from. For 2022, I will still listen in to my favorite announcers - Jon Miller for SF, Greg Brown / Bob Walk for PIT, etc. but I have largely given up on MLB.
If the Automated Ball-Strike system ever takes hold in MLB, I guess that will be it for even listening/watching to MLB games.
It will be used this season in AAA ball in Albuquerque, Charlotte, El Paso, Las Vegas, Oklahoma City, Reno, Round Rock, Sacramento, Salt Lake, Sugar Land and Tacoma. I will give it a quick whirl, but from what I saw last year in the Low-A Southeast League I was not impressed. So I will probably pass on watching most home games at those parks.
Baseball, more than some other sports, is a game of tradition. They are slowly killing off the game. Oh well.
We’ve subscribed to MiLB TV for as long as it has been available. The quality of broadcasts has improved dramatically over the years. It is excellent for many teams. Unfortunately, we were unable to watch the playoffs in Florida for Low A ball at Tampa (the LOL Tampa Tarpons, affectionately known as the Tampons). The Bradenton Marauders MiLB coverage was top notch.
Can we also get a designated fielder to stand next to the pitcher’s mound and field anything that comes that direction.
I mean, the guy’s job is to throw the ball. If you don’t expect him to bat, should we expect him to be able to field a hit ball?
"The Impossible Has Happened!"
"Big Sexy".... LOL! ;-D
