Senator Marco Rubio Washington, D.C. 284 Russell Senate Office Building Washington DC, 20510 Phone: (202) 224-3041 Toll free in Florida: (866) 630-7106
Florida Senator Marco Rubio wrote amendments to the Lacey Act, approved by the House and now before the Senate, that creates a White List of approved species. 1500 species of all animals and wild collected plants will be legal to ship. All the rest are banned. This ends the collection and protection of rare and endangered species and guarantees their destruction. Politics just bit us on the nose. What are we going to do about it?
My neighbor has had an African grey parrot for 40 years taken from the wild.
It is still mentally wild and will bite any person at any opportunity.
Thanks for a levelheaded comment.
How about instead we ban non Natural born cotizensfrom florida?
So ban African cobras then. But I’m sure they were already banned before Rubio’s amendment.
Aren’t they already there? And in d’Ottawa?
Level-headed maybe, but also not correct regarding this amendment.
People, unfortunately, are much more than a nuisance.
So zookeepers should start looking for other work? Maybe they can learn to code...
Pretty much.
If you own an animal you are responsible for any damage it causes.
Other then that, have what you like.
It probably just hates you.
“They allow China to export stray dogs here. We don’t have enough rescue dogs I reckon.”
The Golden Retriever are a big item on the menu in China.
Golden Retrievers are quickly rehomed in the USA. There is a waiting list at my local Golden Retriever rescue. I found a local farmer who was breeding to get my current boy.
I assume nobody is capturing Lions and Tigers in the wild anymore, all are captive breed.
Same probably with Wolves, and maybe bears but since Wolves & Bears are native to the United States this wouldn’t affect them.
We adopted a Golden from Korea.
Apparently having a pure bred dog is a middle class status symbol now in Asia but folks get surprised when that cute little puppy becomes a 70lb energetic teenager. Also they typically don’t have housing with big yards to accomodate active dogs.
What about the Pistons and the Red Wings?
Good to see Little Marco - bubbles boy - is on top of things.
You want to do something Marco? You want your name on something? How about you confront the REAL problems even Floridians (residents of the most free state in the country, imo) confront on a daily basis.
You know what those problems are (and they have nothing to do w/ pets), but you won’t address them because you’re what we call a pussy.
This is not how a free country operates.
I have a macaw
We’ve had him for 30+ years.
Parrots, even those born in captivity, are tamed wild animals; dogs and (somewhat) cats have had thousands of generations of selection for traits that let them get along with humans, parrots don’t. Getting a big bloody chunk taken out of you and then being *laughed* followed with a “F- you you F-ing F” is painful but funny, ask me how I know.
Are chinchillas on the list of no?
i thought he was gonna ban bubble baths..
I just wish the local supermarkets and restaurants here his state of Florida would follow federal and local hygiene laws and keep out the dogs (oh sorry “emotional support animals”). So sick of stepping around these feces and urine dragging mutts in the produce aisle. Bad enough owners no longer pick up the their bacteria laden waste outside on the sidewalks and parks. This era of dog worship is a sign of a sick society. (Dogs being pushed around in baby carriages- really??)
