Dr. Dorit Nitzan explains the difference between Omicron and the new sub-variant, and why there may be bigger issues at hand. While the original Omicron variant first detected in South Africa in late November is still the dominant virus strain in most countries, others are starting to worry about a new sub-variant that has been halting the downward trend in infections – the BA.2 sub-variant.

Viruses are not bacteria. They are not living things. You don’t kill them. You wash them away.
Yup, and people continue to post this crap for self recognition.
And the flu is a virus...and omicron, delta, and covid are VIRUSES
How you do that?
BS variant.
Not sure what the problem is here. There are trillions upon trillions of virions of Covid around. There were far fewer flu viruses. We had something like 50,000 flu deaths in a year(flu season) in a typical year.
Covid kills over 10X that. All over the world.
You are right and I don’t think many know that.
Emojis on phone or kindle. Not on computer though.
Have a look at NYC death curves and how office space is empty to learn this lesson.
Please continue?
It's how you do it..................
I’m worried about the Olympic Variant. I got my China Virus test strips, made in China, from the Joe Biden last week. Wonder if I can sell them on EBay?
There are nearly 8 billion people in the world. Plenty of opportunities for it to mutate. Instead of 50,000 annual flu deaths, we'll have to deal with 500,000 annual covid deaths. Millions of Americans turn 65 every year.
We thought that this thing might follow the pattern of the Spanish flu. But it's not looking that way so far.
And this is before the Omicron. What we've seen with previous variants, we will probably see another one pop up in 6-11 months from now to displace Omicron.
I’ll stand by a well respected doctor/researcher I know...who, years ago fought the Feds and won...”there is no such thing as “covid”
We thought that this thing might follow the pattern of the Spanish flu. But it’s not looking that way so far.
Thanks to the FRAUDci $hots.
You do NOT attempt to ‘vax’ your way out of a pandemic. He didn’t follow REAL science, and real docs/experts advice, sadly.

Son of Omicron?
Bride of Omicron?
I was a Teenage Omicron?
Actually... A practiced engineering eye (mine) would say those curves as presented are SOMEWHAT similar. However, the drivers of the two curves have some major differences, so I don’t read too much into the comparison. Indeed, one of those drivers (the increasingly infectious variants) has now resulted in Omicron, which blows up the unseen part of the curve to the right.
I’m unfortunately in agreement with you - there will be more variants.
Unlike anyone else on FR that I know of, I think it should be possible, maybe with very powerful AI, to study the successful mutation sequence so far, and at least make a good guess as to what future mutations or mutation types will result in increased contagiousness. In turn, that knowledge could assist in creating treatments and vaccines that would literally get out ahead of the mutations.
Not worrying. Not playing this game.
Viruses certainly meet SOME of the dictionary qualifications for “life”. However, if one leans toward defining them as non-life, I’m okay with that: Just expand the definition of “kill” to one more like a militaristic usage of the word. Ie., “kill” the incoming missile or enemy plane.
In that sense, viruses can be “killed” (or at least rendered permanently inactive & subject to molecular decomposition) by:
Moderate (or more, for faster results) heat.
Biological attack.
Chemical exposure (fairly mild chemicals will do a quick number on them.)
Irradiation by (fairly mild) UV light or sunlight.
Drying them out. Recent work indicates that with COVID this happens rather quickly in low humidity air.
Just to be nit-picky. ;-)
You cite death count statistics but the question I ask is, how are those numbers being derived? We know that our hospitals have been guilty of counting dying with covid the same as dying from covid - two vastly different things.
Hospitals are incentivized ($$) to treat "covid" patients, "Right now Medicare has determined that if you have a COVID-19 admission to the hospital, you'll get paid $13,000. If that COVID-19 patient goes on a ventilator, you get $39,000, three times as much." - re: factcheck.org
Frankly, I don't trust the covid information and numbers being produced by the CDC, WHO or any other government organization.
The common cold seems to have totally disappeared too!
