A rare breed of ancient trees appears to be the key to life for forests all over the world. Researchers at The Morton Arboretum say in many forests which date back centuries, there are a small number of trees which provide genetic and evolutionary benefits to the rest of the environment. Moreover, this “tree of life” is usually 10 to 20 times older than the average plant species dwelling in that forest!
Study authors found that these ancient trees don’t follow a natural (and predictable) life cycle like other plants, trees, and even humans. They also only make up fewer than one percent of the trees in the environment.
Moreover, the team notes that once these trees are gone, they’re gone. Their environmental models show that it’s becoming increasingly hard for trees to reach the impressive ages of existing ancient trees. Simply put, there may be no way to replace an ancient tree that takes care of a forest once they die.

Morton Arboretum is a cool place. They have a beer tasting and food truck event we like to attend.

Moringa “Tree of Life”
—”There are quite a few of us around here.”
DuPage County, my home of record since ~1966.
Once a bastion of conservatism.
Those days are gone.
I saw the movie.
Blue, very large people riding flying dragons.
Very, Very childish.
—”Morton Arboretum is a cool place.”
My late father-in-law thoroughly enjoyed the place, later from his wheelchair and lastly from the car.
And if you have a tree question, they have been most helpful.
We live in a former farmhouse that came with pear, apple cherry, mulberry, plumb... trees. after a few years, they suddenly started to die in groups?
My wife called the Arboretum, they said to take photos and bring samples of the limbs.
They said they were planted in groups and fruit trees tend to have a fixed life span.
Sadly my wife colluded with a woman from the electric utility and they had a PRO HIT CREW take out my friend Mrs. Mulberry.
They did it for free because she was moving in on their territory. They could have just whacked her a bit, but no...
About 30 inches across at the base, a huge operation.
Now I see neighbors I never knew existed.
I’m thinking of the Ents.
“The next summer you could not walk in due to the growth reaching over your head and the roads were covered over.”
What’s more, really old forests have less game. There is less undergrowth for them to eat. There is a reason why the cycle of burn and regrowth is natural and needed.
#17 & #25 But the “experts” think it is real!!
They are Ents, Shepherds of the Forest.
haha
Sounds like this article is a bunch of mystical magical daydreaming by “climate change” hippies.
Sorry about the mulberry. I make a damned good mulberry jam when I can find them.

You find them next to the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
Bikini Atoll came back from nuclear Armageddon pretty nice as well. Exxon Valdez and Prince William Sound anybody? Nature isnt stupid or weak.
What is this mystical strain of tree?
Oh, not a particular species but special members.
What makes this tree special among its kind that it has mystical powers?
Where is the faith on Earth? :)

Ought you not to know that the Lord God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David forever, to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt? (2 Ch 13.5)
The Morton brand is the famous common table salt, NaCl -- "ClaN" by metathesis. That salt girl gets around:
There's more where that came from. ;)

Clean shot, self defense. The car was obviously headed straight at him.

I always kinda liked Joyce Kilmer’s take on the subject.
