The creepy crawlers, also known as coconut crabs, did not injure the campers and are known to nick food from campsites
The woman who uploaded the footage told Storyful: "They are relatively peaceful.
"They can be moved away gently or sometimes picked up and moved. No pinching."
They are found on islands across the Indian Ocean and parts of the Pacific Ocean - and often referred to as the "gentle giant".

The Professor, Russell Johnson, is in it!................
They don’t look that tasty, either.
That movie scared me to death when I was a kid!
Are those giant crabs edible? Toss ‘em on the fire! YUM
Nelson
Neither do Dungeness crabs but they are eaten..............
Creepy Crawlers?
I used to make them as a kid.
I knew it would be Australia! Everything there is monstrous.
Are they tasty? I’m seeing a lot of crab claw meat.
“Terrifying footage shows around fifty of the hungry crustaceans”
“Terrifying”...good gosh really??
Where I’m from fifty crustaceans, some melted butter and a few cold beverages is called a PARTY!
Do they coat well with drawn butter?
Crab on the barbie?
“They don’t look that tasty”
Neither do oysters but a lot of people love ‘em.
Somebody has to be the 1st to think “that looks appetizing”.
Coconut crab meat can be delicious or absolutely foul. Depends entirely on the local diet. I would not eat any without local knowledge.
In some cases it can even be quite toxic since they can eat plants toxic to humans and rotting carcasses. They have become pests in some areas going through garbage cans like racoons
“looking for food after smelling a BBQ”
I know a lot of people who’d put those bad boys ON the BBQ. Lol
I don’t know, but they eat carrion and garbage.......................
Australia is a very weird place.
