Norwegian Startup Fresco Shows Eight-Seater 1,000-Km / 620-Mile EV

The company’s new vehicle is not a sedan, but a large crossover/people carrier called XL.

=======================================================================

VIDEO AT LINK...........

We first heard of Fresco, a Norwegian EV startup named after the futurist and social engineer Jacque Fresco, back in 2019 when it showed off the design for a new electric sedan called the Fresco Reverie. And that was also the last time we heard of Fresco until today when the company teased a new design for a different EV with a claimed projected range of 1,000 km or about 620 miles on one charge.

Called the Fresco XL, it is a people carrier/crossover type vehicle that can carry 8 people and whose battery pack is a structural component. And even though it was just shown in one video that shows a 3D model, not an actual vehicle, Fresco is already taking orders for the XL - each pre-order requires a €1,000 deposit and the vehicle’s estimated final cost will be €100,000 (equivalent to roughly $112,860).

We are not told how big the battery that will provide the 1,000 km range is, but the company does say the vehicle will have vehicle to load (V2L) capability and that the cells in the pack will be double-stacked for maximum storage capability. The vehicle will have two motors, one for each axle, and it will be designed with use in harsher climates (such as Norway’s) in mind.

Apparently, you will also be able to fold down all the seats and use the vehicle’s cavernous interior as a camper.

As for the design, the best way to describe it is as an Apple Magic Mouse with lights; we are not shown what the inside looks like, because it most likely has not been designed yet. And this is the theme with this vehicle - it all looks pretty nice and the figures provided are certainly interesting, but this company has a very long road ahead if it wants to market this vehicle.

Granted, this second effort looks more believable and unique than the Tesla Model S rival the company initially wanted to make, but until they announce when, where and how they will produce the vehicle, as well as some credible partners to help them achieve it all, we’re taking this project with a grain of salt - they only have six people employed right now, according to their LinkedIn page.

No need for subsidies.

Homeless problem solved!

And of the 6 people 5 are graphic designers and one is a social media expert, no doubt.

I understand the current backlash among many Freepers who bash EV‘s. This is the same mentality used against hybrids some 20 years ago.

It was wrong then, and it is wrong now. It really is just a matter of time before the average EV is able to sustain 600 or 700 miles or more on a single charge. It really is just a matter of time before an EV can be fully charged in 30 minutes or less, and it really is just a matter of time before costs to purchase and sustain an EV will be less than your average ICE vehicle.

Would I buy an EV now? No, but I certainly would consider one in the future when they are more affordable, more reliable, and cheaper to operate then ICE vehicle.

Very nice, and now we can turn you on and off!

Unpaid taxes? Turn you off! Check.
Donated to Election Integrity? Turn you off! Check.
Unvaxxed? Turn you off! Check.

So much time! So much control!

Those Norweegees, they sure is some kind of smart, ain’t they?

Has anyone figured out how to put a generator on thes EVs so they charge themselves while moving?

I’m sure you could but it’s just adding another layer of inefficiency to the process.

Regenerative braking.

When you charge one of these low powered but sleek looking products, you likely get your power from the grid which experiences up to 70% line loss.

In other words, there’s no gain in efficiency and the fuels feeding the power plant to the grid are all burning now through a grouping of smoke stacks.

That said, it’s an area of tech that pays some benefits such as regenerative breaking of solar tops etc.

But the power and energy density is gone by falf at least.

You’ll get in one and will be disappointed on the road but in the City, yeah it can be quiet and nice as long as the speed limit is like 30-35.

But as I posed before, you’ll lose freedom. If your local government idiot wants to lock the populace down for some strange Fauci-Ouchie reason, all they got to do is program all EVs to cut out or limit travel to say 5 miles.

Yeah, we’re going there.

"€1,000 deposit"

Darn. I've already put a deposit on a Koenigsegg Gemera...

I'm considering an EV in the next couple of years. The F-150 Lightning's lower price model has my attention. Since I rarely use my pickup for long trips anyway the range of the EV truck is not a deal-breaker for me.

But the idea of getting maybe 20% of my miles for free in an EV from my solar system sounds very enticing. My current solar system without an EV will pay for itself in about 10 years. With an EV, and an upgrade to my solar system I'm considering getting (making it more like 90% free miles, but with the cost of the solar upgrade), the entire costs will pay for themselves in about 12 years total (from when I got my solar system a year ago, so 11 years from now). And that assumes energy inflation being only 3% per year (by avoiding most of my energy costs that's more money I save each year). If energy inflation keeps spiking like it's been doing (and like the Dims keep promising to make it do) it'll all pay for itself sooner.

You bring up a legitimate concern with the gubment possibly being able to implement a kill switch in new cars (not just EV's).

But isn't that the case already with how they do gas? By lowering gas supply they make driving a car cost ineffective. It's not only one of their often repeated goals, it's something Brandon is actually implementing.

If I get an EV I already have plans to probably upgrade my solar system (probably after having the EV for a year and get a real feel for the power consumption so I can make my solar upgrade more efficiently meet the need). If I can figure out a bypass for the car's kill-switch (maybe simply not connect the car to the home wi-fi), I could basically have more autonomy with an EV than everybody else does with a gas car paying for sky high gas prices to absolve them from the Dim-ordained carbon sins.

Being libertarian is about a lot more than just legalizing pot. The past year's worth of generating over half of the power I consume has made me worry a lot less about government control freaks at the national and local level jacking up home energy costs.

You’ve got the right path.
We need to be adaptable.
I’m considering a plug-in hybrid as my next primary vehicle.
Electric for towny trips.
Gas for vacations.

in that price range, only the very wealthy will be able to afford one.

Already discovered in Biden’s Build Back Better Bill. It’s there already.

> “But isn’t that the case already with how they do gas?”

Yes, but easier to defeat. Not so with EVs.

Need legislation like Kill Switch Opt Out (pay extra tax) or Kill Switch activated only with warrant.

Interface/Interaction between Tech and Freedom is BIG AREA OF CONCERN that people tend to not pay attention to because they’re not used to thinking about consequences. Every piece of legislation, every innovation promulgated should undergo Freedom review. We know this is bureaucracy but the alternative is not acceptable.
