If you want to live healthier, step away from these 10 foods and general food categories.
We hate to be the bearers of bad news but yes, that means put down the bacon.
Let’s get this fan-favorite out of the way first. Bacon is not good for your health.
“Many don’t know that the World Health Organization has classified bacon in the same category as tobacco when it comes to carcinogenesis,” says Reyzan Shali, MD, referring to the process by which normal cells are transformed into cancer cells. “We have done a good job asking people to give up tobacco, but how come we have not done a good job asking people to not eat bacon?”
2. Turkey bacon Turkey bacon isn’t a healthy choice either.
“If I can convince my patients to give up bacon, the next question I get is usually whether they can have alternatives to bacon, like turkey bacon. I explain that it’s the processing that makes the meat harmful. So replacing bacon with turkey bacon to make it healthier is misguided,” says Shali.

This fool thinks we all want to live forever. I don’t want to live to a ripe old age. I have no desire to lose brain cells, drool, have my arse washed or veg out in the same ole chair, day after day. What’s the point of living if you can’t enjoy your days, laugh with friends and enjoy the sheer pleasure of food? Waitress, I’ll have a rasher of bacon, eggs over easy, with a crunchy Italian roll slathered with butter.
Eat your heart out, Perri.

It’s it even possible to find lard in a store anymore?
Mom is 97 and has eaten all those things her whole life.
Yes, Walmart Community Markets carry lard in 5 lb. tubs.
Everything in moderatiion.
Leftist thug Doctors.
This person should be stripped naked and whipped through the streets at midday. A fate generally appropriate for the journalistic whores known as "experts" providing fodder for screeds such as this.
Lard fried kale is excellent.
I still remember my mother-in-law watching me devour bacon and eggs at a diner on morning while she primly nibbled at her fruit salad with non-fat cottage cheese.
She asked me in that self-superior harpy tone that only MIL's can have what health benefits those bacon and eggs could possibly have for me. I told her that this food makes you happier, gives you energy, and makes you less of a grouch.
That did shut her up for a few minutes.
Though I am impressed that they included toxic oils on the list, the fact that they couldn’t identify components of the ‘gluten-free’ fad as unhealthy discredits the author wholesale.
The WHO!!!? Would that be the same who which undertook a study to determine the effects of second hand smoke on children and when the same showed a PREVENTATIVE effect they quashed it and denied it ? That effectively destroys any WHO credibility. I sincerely doubt that before this food study they were madly in love with bacon as a menu item. They found what they wanted to find because THAT is the WHO.
Up to a few years ago, Kale was used exclusively to cover the ice in salad bars, they some idiot went and ate the stuff and didn’t die so suddenly, Kale is the new magic superfood.
It’s nothing but bitter tasting groundcover.
Only eating the crap they say is good for you just makes you think you are living too long.
It looks like generally good advice. However, as to frying and processed meat; the reason sausages and bacon are not (very) healthy is the modern processing methods. Frying in animal fat is healthy. Frying in seed oil (canola, soy, corn, veg, rapeseed) is extremely dangerous.
“Or lard. The experts say it’s not so bad after all, even good for you in fact. “
the problem with store-bought lard is that it contains added hydrogenated vegetable oil and MASSIVE amounts of preservatives so it can sit on unrefrigerated shelves nearly forever without getting moldy ...
tallow is even healthier than lard, but you have to make it yourself AND freeze it, as even refrigeration won’t keep it from getting moldy after a few weeks ...
Define “expert.”
Always know who’s telling you something and what their biases are.
If bacon and fried chicken was that bad everyone in the south would be dead. 😆
“fried foods are higher in fat, salt, and calories, all of which are horrible for heart health”
The idiot just disqualified themselves from commenting on nutrition.
