The trial of a Limestone County, Alabama, man who allegedly kept a squirrel supplied with methamphetamine to make it attack people has been delayed.
Mickey Joel Paulk’s trial was scheduled to start Monday, but it was continued until Feb. 28, according to court documents.
Paulk faces charges for possession of a wild animal, stolen property and possession of a weapon by a felon. He was arrested in June 2019.
Paulk, 39, has other charges to deal with, too, according to court records.
He was arrested Dec. 23, 2021, on charges of chemical endangerment of a child and trafficking methamphetamine, as well as some drug and weapons charges. According to documents, Paulk was indicted back in June 2021 of the chemical endangerment charge and in January 2021 of the trafficking count.
A manhunt began for Paulk on June 18, 2019, when a drug bust in Athens turned up meth, ammunition and body armor.
Also found was a caged squirrel. Before authorities acted on a search warrant, they were told that Paulk fed meth to the animal to keep it aggressive. The sheriff’s office said it released the squirrel into a wooded area.
“There was no safe way to test the squirrel for meth,” Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely’s office said in a June 18, 2019, statement shortly after the bust. The squirrel garnered national fame when the story came to light.
Paulk released a video the day after the bust with a squirrel that he claimed was the same one released by sheriff’s deputies. He denied that he fed the squirrel meth.
One of the funniest things I’ve ever heard. An attack squirrel? I know of attack dogs, but a squirrel? Life can be so weird sometimes.
That squirrel needed to go to the Antioch Baptist Church to go Berserk.
So was the man or the squirrel on the motorcycle? Mr. Mercat and I are convinced that squirrels are aliens. Have you ever seen one fall a long distance? They get up, run up to their nest and teleport into the mother ship.
More genius decisions from law enforcement. Assuming the squirrel was caged, fed meth and was aggressive, why release it? I hope (not really) someone is attacked and sues the daylights out of these clowns.
Secret squirrel stuff is on a need to know basis.
All squirrels act like they’re on method, tbh...
That’s nothing!
Jill Biden keeps a Donepezil-fed attack _resident.
He'd train it to know the difference between crack and parmesan cheese in the carpeting.
This is a toss-the-key case for sure. He’ll have more opportunities for advancement in the DOC industry than in any private industry anyhow. And...just the slightly better place that this world will be knowing hes in a cage is worth it. Too bad the same cant be done for the real criminals that are in politics.
I found it. https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/4025234/posts The story is at post 13.
Would he train it that way or the squirrel would just learn it from being around him?
You could not make this up.
“People are crazy and life is strange.”

Somehow an “attack squirrel” just doesn’t carry the gravitas of an “attack dog”.
I think Hunter would do better with a monkey who would mimic his behavior, but then the monkey might get addicted to crack, and use up his stash.
Which one is the squirrel again?
Humans are really starting to worry me.
If you are attacked by a meth-fed squirrel, you grab its tail and swing it around in circles until you slam it against a metal pole or tree, killing it.
Alternatively, you kick it or throw it over your fence.
Interesting...whenever I see a squirrel working hard to solve a problem, it so much reminds me of some people I know.
With those people, as they work an issue, you can very near see the cogs turning in their heads...it is even more interesting when they give you a verbal blow-by-blow account of what they are actually thinking, and you can match it up with the gears...:)
Squirrels can’t give me that blow-by-blow, but when they are working a problem, I see the gears turning!
Just curious-what do you think of bird intelligence?
“Alabama Man” trying to outdo “Florida Man”???
