On The Donald they call Ted Cruz the Zodiac Killer. It’s funny as hell, and even Cruz goes along with it.

This writer doesn’t really know what they are talking about. Zodiac intentionally put many mispellings into his letters to throw off the authorities, perhaps to give an impression that he was an uneducated person so they would be put on the wrong track.

It’s also a common technique in cryptography to insert intentional mispellings into the plaintext, because this increases the difficulty of decrypting the code, while reducing the readability of the plaintext very little.

Based on this, it's pretty incredible that he was able to come up with a cypher complicated enough to fool the FBI for years but couldn't put the effort in to give his spelling a quick double-check, or maybe ask a friend to: "look, try not to read too much into the content but can you have a quick check that my grammar's ok".

Could also be that he intentionally misspelled words on purpose to make braking his code even harder. But I find it ironic that this writer included that, when so many spelling and grammatical errors exist in articles nowadays.

I just discount out of hand anything to do with the FBI. There is a lot missing here too, so I'll assume whatever the FBI claims is somehow fraudulent. They're democrats after all.
