(Charlie Jacobs is the pen name of a California wife and mother of two teenagers. Until recently, she worked part time in a professional capacity, but is now dedicated to educating other parents about how gender ideology can overtake a child.)
My husband and I looked to a Catholic school to be an ally in our fight to break our daughter free from the grip of gender confusion. We were naive.
Our daughter, now 15, was 13 when she was coached into believing that she was born in the wrong body and could change to be the opposite sex. This led her to self-loathing.
But instead of finding a partner within the Roman Catholic Church, we discovered that our local Catholic high school had adopted procedures that promote transgenderism. This situation has left us with no safe place to educate our child and a profound feeling of disappointment and abandonment.
As I previously wrote for The Daily Signal, our daughter’s transgender identity came with little warning. She started ninth grade at a public charter high school in the fall of 2020, but due to COVID-19 didn’t actually set foot in a classroom.
During the first week of online classes, I noticed that all her teachers were referring to her by male pronouns and a male name. My husband and I were stunned.
We later learned that our daughter, who had been happy as a stereotypical girl up until puberty, had “come out” to her school as “trans.”
When I contacted the charter school, her designated counselor cheerfully informed me that the school permits children to “lead” and self-identify concerning gender without consulting their parents.

So Catholic schools now have the time to deal with and accommodate gender-confused and all their issues, and our daughter was just expelled from a Catholic school with some anxiety issues...I see there’s a few more reasons now to be disappointed in them.
Long article, but a must read.
What’s missing from it, though, is much reference to the daughter’s perspective and attitude over time. Was she rebellious, did she actively oppose the parents’ position? What was the quality of her social life, particularly with its core, her family life?
Anyone involved in this kind of situation should be asking how much time their child spends with parents, siblings, relatives, and how much time elsewhere (particularly how much time on social media).
Children need a healthy social life. As our ancestors would put it, it “builds character.” Indeed it builds identity. Particularly at puberty, a child needs direction and guidance. There’s a lot of crazy fads, always have been, and some of them become mass delusions; an adolescent is psychologically vulnerable.
Then there’s the family atmosphere. Parents look the other way, too long. Two jobs, so they can “make ends meet,” but they seldom reassess those chosen ends. And they trust the schools, they feel relief that the children are home in their rooms. Well, they’re not in their rooms. They’re on the internet.
I actually know a couple with a daughter who was a normal, pretty girl at 13; now 19 and already a cat lady and apparent lesbian (apparent because she has no partner, nor even a close friend of either sex). The girl dresses like a boy (boys are now boys, up to 30 years old, to judge by their attire). She never goes anywhere, except on the internet. The mother’s not just beautiful, but glamorous; her only daughter, while attractive, could not hope to follow in those footsteps. The father’s a grouch who criticizes the children constantly. The three teenaged brothers are all rather metro, passive, and depressed. And according to the mother, they don’t even get together for dinner on holidays; they let the kids go where they want to go.
The family bonds need to be strong. The parent in the article caught on before long, but the lesson is clear. You can’t depend on anyone else to raise your child, to guide your child, to care for your child.
Adolescence is the danger zone, when a child starts to think for himself — and you think that’s exactly what he’s doing.
No, he’s looking for suggestions on what to think, and the wicked are eager to tell him.
And yes...why won't Mary slow-dance with me to Stairway?
They need to homeschool their daughter.
When I was 11 or so, I worried that I might be gay because I wasn’t attracted to boys. Mom reassured me and said this is probably a normal part of development. Having babies at 12 isn’t healthy for a girl or the baby. Competing with older males isn’t healthy for a boy either.
Of course she was right. :)
All we see is the book jacket with callous disregard for the plot.
We are all equal before God. Nobody knows what's happening behind closed doors.
Back in the day, men used to stand up for women. Many guys have fallen prey to modernity and nihilism, and won't even open a door for a woman. It's a bad situation culturally.
Catholic schools cannot be depended on to actually teach Catholicism. Many of them are run by left-wing graduates of the same education programs that staff the public schools. Some of the rest are run by left-wing apostate nuns.
The Left got control of the accreditation agencies and use their power to FORCE private schools to do as they demand.
“Considering the Catholic church hides child molesters, why would anyone think they are anything but extreme left-wing liberals?”
Yes. Actually they aren’t hiding them now, they are attempting to make them mainstream.
The tragedy is RC church long-time members whose families were catholic and so on, maybe for a hundred years or longer. They stick up for and defend the church and will even argue that there may be problems, but they will fix these problems internally and mind your own business. They were fostered in obedience and that’s where they want to stay; either that or they’re corrupt and plan to profit in some way off the church’s demise.
It’s not that they need to rebel, necessarily, but they need to take a hard look at what’s going on - for example, the part the church plays in illegal immigration and establishment of “one world government,” and the “great reset.” These are not conspiracy theories, but established fact, and at best some of these catholics are like, “Oh, what do you know?” (I was in the church from the time I was a toddler and went to catholic school from kindergarten through 8th grade. Public school was quite a shock. I tried several times to reunite with the catholic church - as recently as 2012 or so.)
And they will say “The church will come back and it will be better than ever!” (This was from a supposed “right wing” catholic pundit who criticized DT bitterly and coincided with ChoMoeJoe winning the election by cheating.)
No, it’s highly doubtful the RC church will return after this. The communists will use it, consume it, and discard it.
Way back in 2011: After examining the official web sites of 244 Catholic universities and colleges in America, the TFP Student Action found that 107 – or 43% have pro-homosexual clubs. A lot of guys seem to think that. And then the next thing they think is, “She needs to learn her place!”
Wait....there’s something wrong with fart competitions? Since when???!!! 😮
Bump
I stand corrected.
I still admit to liking J Waters - Nob bless that man! But his movies did do a huge amount of damage to American culture, instructional as they were.
What a nice man! A lot of the priests I’ve known were really good people. But that was a long time ago! (And I don’t want to check on the ones I like today to see if they really were as good as I saw them.)
