Dairy Queen restaurants across Texas are celebrating their 75th anniversary, including the location at 1835 W. Louisiana St., McKinney. In commemoration of the milestone, Dairy Queen is asking its customers to share their favorite DQ memories at https://dqtexas.com/anniversary.
“DQ restaurants in Texas have been part of the fabric of the Lone Star State’s communities for 75 amazing years,” Lou Romanus, CEO of the Texas Dairy Queen Operator’s Council, said in a news release. “Almost everyone I meet tells me about a particular memory they experienced at their favorite DQ restaurant in Texas. The anniversary of the DQ brand in Texas is a wonderful opportunity to share these stories with fans across Texas.”
Dairy Queen has Texas-specific menu items that cannot be ordered anywhere else in the country. The Chick’n Fried Steak sandwich, Hungr-Buster and BeltBuster burgers and Texas T-Brand Tacos are all fan favorites, according to the news release. 972-542-0480. https://dqtexas.com

Years ago, when driving my just purchased Chrysler 300 from Katy to Dallas I noticed the same Home Depot and Dairy Queen on the west side of the highway every 20 miles. It was like the background in a Hanna-Barbera cartoon.
My folks would take my mom and six brothers and sisters to DQ when we were growing up and you could either get a vanilla cone or a Dilly bar. My dad didn’t want to remember 8 different orders. He’s 88 and we still give him hell about it.
S’matter with you? Pineapple belongs on pizza!
That is a really sweet memory you have plus you still have him!
From 1977-1990 I owned three Dairy Queens in northern California. Paid gallonage and food royalties to American Dairy Queen in Minneapolis. In 1988 the territory of my location was sold to a middle man/territory operator from Seattle. He convinced me to remodel all stores as he was flush with money after selling the Seattle area. After investing nearly one million dollars he ran out of money. Lawyers won, we both lost. DQ has good products but poor management.
yer prolly ok if ya didn’t get fired :)
Yaarrrg!! you cwazahh!!
I must be a lot older than you. We also got 5 of those little wax coke bottles filled with syrup for a penny. It’s funny how well you remember that stuff.
My favorite DQ memories were when they served ice cream. I have no idea what the stuff is today but it tastes like fat-free artificial goo.

Man, Dem are fightin’ words!
I’ll have to look that up. Our ‘latest and greatest’ is a new Guthrie’s. Just what this town needs - another chicken joint specializing in chicken strips.

A dairy Queen Monday to remember - and let us old guys know if your memory is near as good as DesertRhino's is.
'Course, certain things we folks just can't forget.

Blessings, and stay warm!

:( bless yeah
DQ is still the place to go. Love it. Great ice cream cones, dipped cones, chicken and or steak baskets and the good ol hunger buster burgers.
As a kid in Houston’s Southeast side, we’d collect coke bottles with 2 cent, 5 cent returns on them to get enough to buy an ice cream cone at DQ.
It is and he knows it’s in jest. He and my mother are both alive and we had them over for dinner yesterday to meet their second great grandchild. They celebrated their 63rd anniversary last year.
good times :)
