Can a Vice President serve two terms as President under the Constitution?
The reason I'm asking is because Trump/DeSantis is an unbeatable team and, if DeSantis became VP for Trump's second term, could he then run for two terms as President or is limited to one term as President because he served one term as VP?
I am calm. And I thought that my posting was in fact quite lighthearted! Especially the humorous allusion to the crusty old suspender-snapping geezers in Sam Drucker's General Store!
After all: Who doesn't love a "Green Acres" reference?!
Regards,
Is Civics even taught anymore.
Ok, then: How many times can a person be elected President* of the province of Alberta? Are there term limits?
Regards,
*Just kidding! I know that Canada and its provinces have parliamentary systems. I took Social Studies at the Junior College of American Samoa ("Go Land Crabs!").
Actually, after many years on Free Republic, I think there are many posts, such as this one that you label as
“worthless vanity” that are posted in order to start a conversation or maybe a debate.
In my opinion there are no “worthless vanity” posts or debate, I find them healthy and sometimes educational.
Yep. The only limitations is that no one can be president for more than 8 years consecutive or not.
Article II : "The electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for two persons, of whom one at least shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves
So an elector from a state where the candidate is a resident can only vote if one of the candidates on the ticket is not a resident of the state. If both are residents, the elector can't vote- thus losing the electoral votes from that state. They may win on election night, but when it comes time for the electoral college itself to vote after the election, their votes would be challenged.
Can the president and vice president be from the same state?
Sorry, I misunderstood you. It’s too late. I thought you were talking about Spongebob for a second, but I guess it’s Krusty Krab and not crusty.
Thank You
Learning is a process of realizing how much you don’t know...
The only term limits are upon one’s time in office as POTUS.
That's all right! As one "old geezer" to another, that sort of thing is bound to happen more and more frequently, as senescence gradually sets in.
I thought you were talking about Spongebob for a second, but I guess it’s Krusty Krab and not crusty.
Stephen Hillenburg - the creator and (for the first three seasons) showrunner of the series - was a certifiable creative / artistic genius with a real background in marine sciences. Such a tragedy that he died so young (of ALS).
But I don't recall having referenced either Spongebob or the Krusty Krab - rather, my mention of the Junior College of American Samoa and its team motto "Go, Land Crabs!" was an obvious reference to the alma mater of "Saul Goodman" of the Netflix series "Better Call Saul."
Regards,
Ok
Where am I incorrect. And you can leave the name calling out of if.
A VP could technically be president for 12 years, if his boss keeled over on the first day in office.
If the veep is elected, of course. If the veep takes over for a death or impeachment, such as Teddy Roosevelt for McKinley, he can serve the remainder of the elected president’s term AND two of his own terms.
“ Of course, the trivia question here is how long, in total, can a person be President under the current rules?”
10 years.
Two separate food groups.
Your answer is right there in the Constitution.
No they couldn't. See the 22nd Amendment.
It is according to if the Democrat Party wants them to be president or not. If the Democrat Party wants them to be president, they are. If the Democrat Party does not want them to be president, they are not. At one time we had laws to cover this. But the laws went out in 2020. Now it is whether the Democrat Party desires it. Or not.
Yes. Jefferson did it.
