The home, which sits on 3.6 acres, is currently listed at $85 million.
Located at Cielo Drive, Franklin first purchased the property for $6 million “roughly two decades ago” when it contained only a partially finished mansion, according to The Wall Street Journal. Franklin moved in after fixing up the estate in 2007, and has since said that the property’s past has had “no impact on my life whatsoever,” the outlet reported.
A previous home on the same property — located at 10050 Cielo Drive — was the site of the Manson Family’s gruesome murders of Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring, Abigail Folger, Wojciech Frykowski and Steven Parent in the very early morning of Aug. 9, 1969. Tate was eight months pregnant when she was killed; the fetus did not survive.
The house at 10050 Cielo Drive was eventually torn down in the mid-1990s by Alvin Weintraub, who owned the property around this time, Los Angeles magazine reported in 1998. Weintraub built a new home on the property, changing the address to 10066 Cielo.
“We went to great pains to get rid of everything,” said Weintraub, per the Los Angeles article. “There’s no house, no dirt, no blade of grass remotely connected to Sharon Tate.”
Franklin had also told Architectural Digest in 2010 that he hired architect Richard Landry to build the mansion with “a warmth and coziness that isn’t very common in houses this size,” and credited “John Stamos, Bob Saget and the Olsen twins” for contributing to the wealth that afforded him the opportunity to build his dream home.

Yup, you nailed it.
That’s going to be the biggest palace on the block.
Yes. Yes it does.
adele has bought a bunch of houses in California. I can’t see the point of it unless she is doing it to flip them....or perhaps just keep neighbors away
I clicked the link for the virtual tour. First, it wasn’t actually a virtual tour. Second, the music was horrible. Even Manson would have avoided the original house if this was the music playing from the window.
did meat loaf actually state this as fact???...ive studied this crime for many years and never ever heard meat loaf mentioned ever...
He is. Every time he was on a talk show he told a different story about how he got his nickname.
I don’t think I’d want to live there. Maybe not the same house but I couldn’t forget that horror for those people.
The LaBianca’s last family member to see them alive was their daughter who they dropped off at her apartment on that fateful evening. It later became the apartment complex seen in the opening credits of “Melrose Place.”
>>>i went by the Tate house in 1987...was kinda spooky up there even at 2 in the afternoon..>>>
yeah, i dated a girl in the late 80s and we were all into hollywood murders. One Friday night we drove to the gate of Cielo. It was after midnite. We turned the car off and sat there for a few minutes. yeah.....spooky.
He said he was lost out there and he was all alone, and a light was waiting to carry him hime.
“So it sounds like Meatloaf is a BS’er.”
I never heard the Manson story before but I have heard the JFK assassination story and his buddies were cruising around Dallas they were in high school, and when the shooting occurred it was over the radio they went to Parkland and they got out and they were wandering around the Parkland parking lot which was crowded with cops, press, and onlookers.
There is have film of him and his buddies standing by the car that they drove up in and I’ve seen a picture from that film. The Parkland story is true.
Bugliosi knew Manson was guilty but that he didn’t have enough evidence tying him to the murders. So made the “helter skelter” race war story up up so a jury could have a reason to convict Manson.
Manson did expect that a race war was coming.
‘You have many sons in there [prison]; many, many sons in there, most of them are black and they are angry. They are mad, and they are mad at me. I look and I say, “Why are you mad at me?” He said, “I am mad at you because of what your father did.” And I look at him and I say, “Well,” and I look at my fathers, and I say, “If there was ever a devil on the face of this earth I am him.”’
‘[A]nybody in my family is a white human being, because my family is of the white family. There is the black family, a yellow family, the red family, a cow family and a mule family. There is all kinds of different families. We have to find ourselves first, God second, and kind, k-i-n-d, come next.’

The story is in his autobiography.
I watched an interview with a guy who moved into a house that was next door to the former Tate home. He said HIS house was haunted and I guess pretty much the whole neighborhood had incidents.
That’s a house to die for.
I still distinctly recall two stories he told:
First, he said of all the criminals he ever prosecuted the only one that truly frightened him was Charlie.
Two, if you recall the trial, Charlie at one point came back with an X carved on his forehead (later modified into a swastika). Bugliosi was trying to convince the jury of the power that Charlie held over others. A break was called to clean Charlie up. When they reconvened, two or three of the Manson Girls attending the trial were in the front row. Each had an X carved on their forehead. Bugliosi’s looked at the jurors and immediately knew his case had just been made.
