AN OPEN LETTER TO JOE MANCHIN AND KYRSTEN SINEMA
Joe and Kyrsten, I see you both, while you are Democrats, as the sane versions of Democrats. You both have remained firm in your conviction that the Senate must not become a cheap version of the House of Representatives. You have stood firm in your support of the filibuster, as a tool to ensure that legislation must be approved by a supermajority of your peers. This limitation prevents bad legislation from becoming law.
Your Democrat colleagues have tried every parliamentary trick to pass the 'voting rights' legislation. Both of you are intelligent enough to know that this legislation is not about 'voting rights'. This is clearly an unconstitutional and extremely dangerous power-grab, meant to codify election cheating in all fifty states.
If this bill passes, by whatever trick is employed, it will effectively end opposition to the Democrat party at the state and national level. While this may initially sound good to you, since you are Democrats, it will spell the end of America as a viable country born in freedom, instilled in fairness, and honest representation of all her citizens.
In the long term, single-party rule is very unhealthy for a country. I'm a Republican. I would NOT be happy if we Republicans had single-party rule. You Democrats keep us honest with your opposition to our extremes. PLEASE do not vote in a manner that would allow single-party rule, with Democrats being that ruling party. The lack of ability to oppose extremes will destroy the economies and social orders of the states you represent.
You are all that stands between an America with political balance, and an America that goes to absurd extremes, becoming a mockery of a country. Political balance is vital to keep a country from careening out of control. Please keep this in mind as you vote the next few days.
I spoke of the problems in the bill that would ensure single-party rule by the Democrats. I will list the most egregious elements of the bill:
We can all point at points that are ‘the end of the republic,’ but this would be one of the most damaging events in American legislative history. This is akin to the German 'Enabling Act' that allowed the rise of the Nazis.
I implore you to think of the damage this bill would cause. I implore you to think of the horrid outcomes America would face, if either party can rule with little or no opposition.
Sincerely,
Laz A. Mataz.
And Russia. And China. And North Korea.
Conservatives haven't been in power since 1928.
You forgot the bottle of whiskey
Mail in ballots are fake ballots democrats create late at night to push their candidate over the top and absentee ballots are ballots mailed in by the military that democrats disqualify.
Oops.......m
Exactly!
Well done, Laz.
Spread this letter everywhere you can.
Very thoughtful and well written.
Easy enough to get it to them. Each senator’s website should have a fax number or mailing address to send it too.
please ping me when you post it.
even if they somehow manage to fail to pass it this time, lose congress or at least the senate, etc., it is just a matter of time. the System is adaptive to whatever hand it is dealt (look at how they neutralized trump’s administration) even though I don’t think a 2-4 year delay in the US is acceptable at this point in implementing these measures.
republics that live long enough reach a point that one faction grabs power and simply games the system (the first triumvirate in rome is an imperfect example). a key element is always domestic political control - some form of pogrom.
“I don’t know how,..”
Envelope. Stamp. USPS.

oh, this is the post.
great, thank you for the heads up!
Along with a bottle of whiskey.
BTTT for a legend...
I am at work, working. I have very limited time to do that. Can I ask you to get it to them?
That horse left the barn with passage of the 17th Amendment.
I *hate* when people call me that. Always remember, I'm just some asshole with a keyboard.
:^)
i wish we could edit.
i considered mentioning the enabling act. I don’t know my early 30’s germany history as well as I should but I suspect they implemented similar legislation to this prior to the enabling act, i.e. legislation intended to take control of elections, probably by eliminating opponents from eligibility.
the enabling act comes later, once they have consolidated power. here this would take a couple of years at minimum I would think.
I appreciate your initial post to me. It sparked the writing of this!
Meh. I'm trying to speak in a language they understand. Everyone knows about the Enabling Act, barely anyone knows the history prior to that. I think this slight fudge in facts, works.
