If you’re not taking a real risk, you’re not resisting; you’re just virtue signaling.
I’ve seen a lot of reader comments lately in various media on government COVID mandates where the commenters attack the victims in the story. For example, take a January 15th Daily Wire article, NY Restauranteur Blasts Dem Senator’s ‘Arrogance’ For Flouting Mask Mandate: ‘Thinks She’s Above The Law’. The story is about how U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is a hypocrite with respect to the state’s COVID-19 mask mandate because she entered a restaurant without wearing a mask. I agree with the point of the story.
However, one reader commented on being turned away at a local restaurant for not wearing a mask as mandated by government authorities. The diner told the person at the door that he would take his business elsewhere from then on,

They responded as if the restaurant owner were some sort of collaborator, and many comparisons were made to the rise of the Nazis in Germany. Nonetheless, there is a significant difference here that matters regarding collaboration, an important point to which I will return shortly.
SNIP
Why should he bear the risk for change when so many others do not?
The essence of political resistance is that it must be organized and focused. It calls for leaders who can identify government weaknesses and find ways to exploit them. It requires funding and discipline. Until you have all that, you do not have a “resistance”—you have dissatisfaction.
Once a genuine resistance is in place, we can discuss collaboration. A collaborator is someone who has something to gain by working with the oppressor. A collaborator is not someone who has everything to lose with no hope of support from the other dissatisfied members of the community.

An interesting article. I am interested in reading the comments on this one.
I was barely resisting in the past, but we have hit an inflection point and I am going to increase my resistance. We shall see how high I can take it.
All I have to say about that is;
“But resist we much... we must... and we will much... about... that... be committed.”
Ah, what’s the frequency, Kenneth?
So those who quit their jobs, retired, or allowed themselves to be terminated weren’t resisting, because they weren’t taking any “real” risks?
I’d say that gambling financial insecurity is taking a risk and therefore disagree with the author’s premise. A false premise results in false conclusions.
...that is all
Agreed. I’m resisting, and will force my employer to fire me—which I’m expecting this week now that the Supremes have ruled. from their Ivory Tower.
Agreed. I am taking risks. I was fired for refusing the vax. I am not getting unemployment or any other benefits. I am waiting for my wife to get the ultimatum and lose her job too.
Looking for work has been difficult. I have already lost at least 6 opportunities because I will not get the shot.
The problem nowadays is that once you create a resistance, the odds are that the very first member besides yourself that you add is probably a government informant. And they’ll throw the book at you over made up charges.
Any resistance today has to be organic. Individuals acting on their own. In my case it means early retirement which I did last year, and being chased around Costco by employees demanding that I wear my mask because I keep taking it off. Also, refusing to go into most establishments. We actually got a Sam’s club membership because they didn’t enforce the mass requirement. The signs were everywhere but you can ignore them. Frankly that’s the way it is and virtually all businesses nowadays.
Yep - they can revise their opinions when they start treating us like the Aussies are treating their people and we do nothing...until them, it’s waiting for the tipping point.
I really dislike the “no one but me” type of articles or comments. Millions put their jobs and livelihoods on the line, myself and my wife included. She even quit her job. Millions have been buying arms. Millions have voted that never voted before. Millions comment online. Millions give maskers and businesses grief and have changed their buying habits.. Millions, and millions, and millions do things everyday to resist.
I go into stores all the time without a mask. There are literally hundreds of other people in the store and they are all wearing masks. I get no dirty looks and no mean comments and when I encounter anyone else who is not wearing a mask I smile and say hello. Most store employees have no interest in enforcing mask rules. They walk by and say nothing. They are courteous at the cash register. I would think we are just a few hundred bold people away from defeating mask mandates.
Either way we are resisting our utmost.
Blessings!
Passive/aggressive behavior is resistance. I just don’t take the vaxx, don’t wear the mask, ignore Karen’s trying get me to put the mask on, go where I want, do what I want.
When she does, you won't be "stuck" in NJ (from your about page). You'll be free to come to PA where we have very low taxes, reasonably priced houses, and none of the insane gun control you have in NJ. We have masked, fearful sheep here and there, but you can avoid them. Most businesses are more worried about finding unintoxicated, unaddicted employees than they are about vaccine status. Come to the light. :)
Powerful image. I’ll pass it along to my facebook-registered associates.
You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, and change more minds with humor than with effrontery.
I posted to see what the comments would be. I think there are plenty that enact the “Get Woke, Go Broke” response to companies that put their idiocy on public display. And there are plenty that are running for school boards to throw out the CRT marxists.
Same here. When we were driving to Seattle from aroma Kentucky this summer before last we stopped in a Love’s service station that had a sign in the door that said masks required. I ignored it and went in the store and nobody said anything. On my way out an old guy asked me how I got away with being in there without wearing a mask. I told him I just didn’t wear one and nobody says anything. At that he took his mask off. 😂
When you see those signs on corporate businesses like loves, it’s just a requirement from the head office to comply with everything. It can usually be ignored. And when you see them on Mom and Pop businesses, it’s probably cuz they’re all so just trying to comply with the state requirements. The only place I’ve ever been tracked down in and treated like a criminal is costco. That’s why we got our Sam’s club membership. They have the same mass required signs everybody else has. But even on the day when we went in to create our membership, we weren’t wearing masks and they didn’t say a word.
Juss gotsta loves dat Revrun Al!
