My current ride is a Triumph Tiger Explorer. 140hp w/600 pounds weight. It's a fine bike and gets 40 mpg.
An electric bike might be a novelty but that technology has got to come a long way before it's practical. I ride often in the middle of nowhere. Few gas stations. I've yet to see a charging station.
Get back to me when they develop the bike with a solar panel the size of a cell phone and only needs fifteen minutes of daylight to charge the Harley Live Wire.

I enjoyed my BSA 500cc single. A wonderful thumper. Mine was offroad only. Today, my thumpers include a Yamaha SR400 (fuel injected, street legal) and a Suzuki DR650SE dual sport. The SR400 is kickstart only like the BSA 500. It takes a little coordination with the compression release and kickstart to turn it over. The DR650SE is back in the garage as I love the electric start (auto compression release) and the ability to take the "bush pig" offroad.
While living in San Diego, I seriously entertained a Zero motorcycle. It would have been perfectly fine as my daily commute with a 15 mile round trip on surface streets. It was not well suited to the 1300 miles per month that I accrued on the freeways. The Zero lost out to a Kawasaki Versys, Harley XL1200R Sportster and Harley FXDF Fat Bob.

Zero was touting a 100,000 mile drive train warranty in 2013. The only real maintenance is tires and some occasional lubrication. Perhaps brake pads. Compare that to Harley shop rates for periodic maintenance...a huge difference. My Japanese bikes are very low maintenance. Mostly inexpensive oil change/oil filters/air filters and new tires about every 10,000 miles.

A trials bike needs to be light, nimble and powerful. I don't expect to see the trials hot shots leaping logs or fences with a heavy battery pack.

142 mph top speed
Really? Who in their right mind wants to go that fast on a motorcycle?

There’s a term for people who want to go that fast on a motorcycle: organ donors.

Not me, I was at 120 on a Honda Gold Wing back in the late 70’s and a gust of wind as I topped a hill carried me and my uncle 3 lanes over.
I’m too old to even consider going that fast now. But something about riding power like that makes old men feel young again. So I better just stay away from it.

So, the top performing one (#1 on the list) is the second cheapest, or is that a typo?

This antique yamaha I have has a 250 mile range, but I only get 100 miles on a full tank riding Angeles Crest to Newcombs Ranch and back, and it takes 5 minutes to refill. Oh it also does 150 plus
I actually have 2 of them

I still cannot see why these chunks of crap cost so much verses a regular engine. Is it the batteries in them?

If it isn’t loud and vibrating from the power, it ain’t a Harley.
