The Georgia Bulldogs are college football national champions for the first time since the 1980 season after defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide, 33-18, in the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday.
Thirty-seven days ago, Alabama beat Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, 41-24, to secure the top seed in the College Football Playoff. The rematch was a defensive affair for most of the game before the offenses sprung to life late. With two minutes left in the third quarter, the Crimson Tide led 9-6 and neither team had scored a touchdown.
With fewer than nine minutes left in the game, Alabama held a 18-13 lead, but the Bulldogs found the end zone three times in the fourth quarter to pull away. The dagger was a 79-yard interception return for a touchdown in the final minute of the game that ended the Crimson Tide's attempt at a game-tying drive and extended Georgia's lead to 15.

He’s running for Senator...................as a REPUBLICAN!.............
“And Nick Saban decides to return to the Miami Dolphins.”
Nick has a lot of choices. Wonder if he takes one...
Yes, that enmity runs deep. They are Alabama fans, so I'm sure they are depressed. Now that I no longer follows sports (aside from the PGA) I no longer wake up with that loser's hangover that sports fans experience when their team loses the championship game.
I didn’t hear anything said about Hershel. If Hershel had devolved into some SJW blm stooge the entire game would have been nothing more than a vehicle to showcase his leftist politics.
Excuses.
Now it’s time for Vanderbilt............................................... yeah, riiiight.................
It's called Baseball season.
I’m curious how Clemson will be next year. They got much better as the season progressed.
Live in south GA, and at choir practice Sunday night, it was the topic of discussion before our practice! Everybody felt that GA was going to take this one! I’m glad they won. I’m not into football like I was when we lived in Arkansas & Lou Holtz was the coach for the Razorbacks. Those were some great games!
My sister lives in Waycross.
Have relatives in Baxley, Alma and Valdosta, and Hilliard FL and Jax...................................
It’s a lot to ask for any team to beat a team like Georgia twice.
Georgia obviously had that huge chip on their shoulder last night.
Pretty much I noticed over the years, when two teams have met in the National Championship game, that played earlier in the season, every time, the team that lost the first game won the Natty.
Howbout dem Dogs? Hate Bama.
I was thinking the same thing. Where is Herschel Walker?
There is no actual national championship. Its a creation of Obama and his crowd. TV and polls etc. But there is no playoff system.
I think they need a new qb. 2 years ago I would have said he’s just as good as Sunshine. After this year, I don’t think he has it. Too inconsistent.
I wonder how Clemson will do next year after losing both coordinators.
