Last December my wife and I had diagnosed cases of COVID. We are both in our 50's, relatively healthy and like many the symptoms were comparably to a bad flu.
After recovering we chose different options, she chose to be vaccinated and was boosted last month. I chose to not risk the vaccine and to trust in natural immunity.
Last week we were supposed to fly, I had a cough, my wife insisted I get tested for COVID before flying. I thought it was just allergies, but I ended up testing positive for COVID. My wife then tells me that she has been having headaches, she then tests positive for COVID.
We both had the same symptoms, mild headache, a cough, and congestion. Her symptoms were around 1 day ahead of mine, so I believe she likely contracted it first. The symptoms were easily controlled with OTC medicine - Benadryl and Ibuprofen.
I fully believe that natural immunity is as, or more effective than vaccination. I believe that Omicron is not weaker than other variants, it's just that most people are either vaccinated or have natural immunity. There was a case study of a Nebraska case that shows this.
Nebraska case study of Omicron with 6 family members
The index patient and the four household contacts with previous confirmed infections described the symptoms and severity of their recent COVID-19 infection as being similar to or milder than those during their first infection. The five reinfected patients experienced fewer current symptoms, including loss of taste (none), loss of smell (none), and subjective fever (two), compared with symptoms reported during their first infections (four, four, and four, respectively). The unvaccinated patient without a previous COVID-19 diagnosis experienced cough, joint pain, congestion, fever, and chills.
In the above case study all of those who had recovered from a symptomatic case of COVID had mild Omicron symptoms, the one person who did not have a prior COVID case (was also unvaccinated) had more serious symptoms with Omicron.
I believe that those who are over 40 and have not recovered from a symptomatic case of COVID, should be vaccinated, but for those who have recovered, or are under 40 AND do not have other health issues, the risk of vaccination is likely greater than that posed by COVID.
What we need in the statistical data is for the 'unvaccinated' to be split into 'unvaccinated WITH prior COVID' and 'unvaccinated WITHOUT prior COVID'.

I want to test myself after fighting off a middling bug this past week (which I’m over), but can’t find a test here in NorCal for love nor money...
I believe that Omicron is not weaker than other variants, it’s just that most people are either vaccinated or have natural immunity.
I’m reading that Omicron tends to infect the upper air passages in most people whereas the original virus tended to attack the lung tissue.

What we need is honest, open, go wherever the true data takes us, review of the data from every legitimate perspective.

I doubt very seriously you or your wife have Covid.
If you had it last December, the covid tests you just took may still be reflecting that virus.
In any event, with the abundancy of the many FALSE covid tests now flooding the scene - I would just ignore the tests, continue on with your normal vitamin protocals, and live life as ususal.
It is very likely you weakened your immune system and will be more susceptible to colds and flus. I pray I am wrong but that is what the evidence is showing

Covid went through our family last year at this time. My mom (80 YO) tested for Covid again this year. The symptoms were much milder but she did have a fever and tired for several days. Her O2 levels dropped to 90 but the Dr prescribed an inhaler and she was fine. Last time she was hospitalized for 5 days.
Our son who tested positive also had it in Nov 2020 with high fever and congestion and this time he has a sore throat and congestion.
My question-—How do we even know it’s covid? Isn’t Omicron basically a milder version of Covid that “attached” itself to a mutated cold virus?
I have two relatives who are healthy. One had a cough this winter, but then, he always has coughs when winter comes. His sister whose home is next to his told him to get tested just in case. They both went to test.
Guess what ?? Both positive, both not even sick. His only symptom is a cough, otherwise he goes about his work in the house as if everything is normal.
I suspect a huge number of Omicron infections are ASYMPTOMATIC. With people getting alarmed, testing sites are backed up and of course, the more you test, the more positive cases you will find.
In the past people discussed their “colds”...now it’s ALL COVID ALL THE TIME. We’ve become a nation of hypochondriacs
Hubby full vaxed, just recovered from a bad bout of COVId - 10 days in bed. Me, not vaxxed but recovered from11/20 COVId - not a sniffle. Son, unvaccinated - positive for COVId, experienced one day of flu-like symptoms.
We all have our rational (those of us who are not drones) regarding to Vax or not. I’m 65 and other than some mild high BP no other health issues. I’m unvaccinated but I do get the flu shot. University of Miami School of Med did a global study 75,000 patients of those who had flu shots and also Covid. The study conclusion was that flu shots offer protection against the more severe effects of Covid. Since the experimental and controversial Covid vaccines due the same thing I’ll take my chances with the flu shot minus the spike proteins of the Covid Vax’s. Last week a bug was trying to attack my throat but I doubled up on zinc, vitamin C, hot spicy soups and rest. Seems to have nipped it in the bud thank God.

We are just waiting our turn like everyone else. I assume everyone is going to get it. If we’ve already gotten it, so much the better. We have not gotten any shots other than flu.

Not sure - we thought he must have had it - because I had it - but it was never confirmed.

That confused a bit but I’m thinking December 2020 is the time frame.

The real conspiracy theory is that even though the vaccines were never created to stop the catching or spreading of the sars virus, that people continue to buy into the lie and say if the person with it was vaxxed, they wouldn’t have gotten it. And it is further displayed in this situation when even though the vax was supposed to take care of the problem they found the vaccines have a shelf life of about 6 months and boosters are needed to continue the feel good process they actually do by the admittance of the people that put them out.
And since the entry of Biden and his declaration that they were going to stop the virus, and with the use of the vaccines being put into use, the head count is this:

My adult daughter had it and brought it over (unknowingly) the day after Christmas. Her and her boyfriend stayed a couple of days and left. By the time they left I wasn’t feeling to good. My adult son lives with me. He started feeling sick a day after me.
Anyway, my daughter tested positive for Covid. She waited all day in the emergency room to get the test, which was confirmed on 30 December. Neither my son or I got tested as it is almost impossible to find a testing kit or location.
Why bother hanging out with a bunch of sick people just to confirm you’re sick and risk something worse?
Bottom line is, I’m getting better the last few days but I’ll admit the sickness has been a butt kicker. I’ve had worse flus in my long life but this one was up there in the top 3.
Both my daughter and I have been vaccinated but no booster. My son is unvaccinated. WE all suffered the same, my daughter slightly more than me and my son.
My main question is can we just move on out of all the fear porn and trauma?
You get sick. While some die, it’s very few, and usually there’s something else health wise to go with it. Most everyone gets better. On with life!
One of the episodes was probably flu.
