The Vikings are expected to move on from head coach Mike Zimmer this week, league sources said, though longtime general manager Rick Spielman is likely to remain with the organization. Zimmer has been in Minnesota since 2014 and quickly helped turn the franchise around, though he is 7-9 for the second straight year. With one game to play this season, their playoff hopes are gone.

Yeah. But it’s also standard operating in American sports. For whatever reason GMs generally get 2, maybe 3 coaches before getting fired (generally alongside their last coach). I’m not sure why as 90% of the time you can look at these teams roster and see a garbage heap, but we fire the coach. Just like in Denver, who really haven’t had a QB since Elway retired (I’m totally not counting Manning’s rocking chair tour, sure they got a ring but everybody knew he was doing a couple of seasons and out) but they fired the coach.
Hey, Snyder was smart. He passed on Kirk Cousins and we ended up with him. Snyder seems to be a football guy too. The Wilf family are from New Jersey, real estate is their thing...Football is just an investment. They know nothing about the game. Zimmer and the GM have been able to con them all this time.
Nothing like having a boss who doesn’t know what you do.
I’ve had plenty of bosses like that.

Interesting you would say that Synder is a “football guy”. I saw no evidence of that when I lived in NoVa. Another rich guy with a “shiny new toy” is all I saw.
Ole from Minnesota died and went to hell where the Devil had him breaking rocks with a hammer in fiery pit. The Devil comes by and hears Ole whistling. The Devil says… Ole you are in a fiery pit for all eternity why are you whistling? Ole says…the heat reminds me of back on the farm in Minnesota and lots of summers it would get this hot. The Devil turns up the flames, but when he comes back Ole is singing. What now Ole? the Devil asks. Ole says just thinking about that really hot summer when we torn down the old silo..that was a scorcher. The Devil turns off the flames and now Ole is in a -100 degree blizzard with unimaginable cold. When the Devil come back Ole is singing and dancing twirling his hammer like a baton. What now Ole? the Devil asks. Ole replies… why hell is frozen over ..the Vikings must have won the Super Bowl
*Cousins is a good QB. But you won’t win the Super Bowl with him.*
Ravens won one with Trent Dilfer. The problem is the QB taking up too much salary cap space these days. The problem falls into the hands of the coaches and GM’s. 4th round draft picks hardly made the teams. Now they’re kept. The game has suffered.

Well, I guess I’m just comparing him to Ziggy Wilf. I don’t know much about Snyder except he chose not to pay Cousins 84 million like the Vikings did. So at least he knows more then the Wilf fool.
Yeah...Vikings probably most cursed team in the game. Someone with that organization made a deal with the devil long ago.
Minnesota never should have built an indoor stadium.
The Met was called the “23rd Viking” for a reason.
The funny part with the whole Cousins- Redskins situation is the Skins didn’t have to pay him that much. Cousins wanted a long term deal, he didn’t really want big fat cash, he wanted 5 years with a lot of it guaranteed. Skins wouldn’t give it to him, so they franchise tagged him, which means giving him big fat cash for 1 season. After that they STILL wouldn’t give him the long term deal (again, per year he wasn’t looking for much) so they tagged him AGAIN, and if you tag a player 2 years in a row you have to pay him even MORE. Then after that they they still wouldn’t give him the long term deal, so they let him walk. The reality is that in those two tag years they paid Cousins almost as much as he wanted over 5 seasons, and as mediocre as he is they haven’t found anybody nearly as good since.
So really nobody has done a good job with Cousins.
That was the only field goal he missed the entire season.
It was a perfect example of what Vikings football has always been.

Yup.....it’s called cursed.
Wow. interesting. And sounds like Cousins has played everyone. Must have a great agent. He is a good person. Christian and a man of faith and good works. He does have talent. Just not gonna be the QB to take team to the Superbowl. At least not a mediocre team.
A great team he might get there.......but he would need elite talent all around him to make up for his shortfalls. He’s not Aaron Rogers or Tom Brady, etc.
I wouldn’t say he played anybody. If Washington had given him the contract he wanted he’d be there now making a good $5 million less than he is now. But for whatever reason Washington preferred giving him money to years. And then eventually the Vikings showed up and said “how about both”.
Nope not close spanos family are the worst owners
His post was about a regular season game in which the Vikings almost beat the Dolphins that year, not about the Super Bowl. (It was actually a pretty entertaining article.)
Also, the Dolphins were a 1.5 point favorite against Washington.
The ref said Benchwarmer Bob hit the quarterback? You know that call has to be wrong.
Another funny story from the article (which was quite good):
"“I was down in Naples, Fla., at a golf tournament once and there were a bunch of ’72 Dolphins there,” Lurtsema said. “Nick Buoniconti (a hall of fame linebacker) comes up to me and says that you’re as important as anybody for the Dolphins going undefeated in 1972. So he had me sign this ball. So there’s an autographed ball with all the undefeated Dolphins on it and one Bob Lurtsema.”"
