With the Sixties and the ‘youth-quake’, a more bohemian style was favoured – Julie Christie and Brigitte Bardot, less inclined to pander to men’s fantasies while still inspiring them.
Then came the Seventies and it occurred to women that every other oppressed group seemed to be having their own rebellion. At the 1970 Miss World pageant, ‘Women’s Lib’ (what a great phrase – much better than poncy old ‘feminism’) protesters chucked flour bombs about, alarming the host Bob Hope. But regrettably for our side, a side-effect of burning one’s bra was that it gave men an even better look at our breasts – witness famous nipple-featuring photographs from that on Carly Simon’s first album in 1971 to Gered Mankowitz photographs of a young Kate Bush in a leotard in 1978.
Feminism didn’t do anything to stop men objectifying women – it just gave them a wider range to perve over: The *Real* Woman (overweight); the Lady Boss (wearing vertiginous stilettos, and whose true ambition was having it off on the boardroom table after hours); the Manic Pixie Dream Girl – and the Hot Mess, from Bridget Jones to Fleabag.

Woman want to pretend they are independent, but many want a man to bail them out, and take care of their every need. When that doesn’t happen (real world, kiddo,) they get bitter.

There was a survey/poll several weeks back among women that if a man only offered to pay his own dinner on a first date something like 97%+ of the women would never go out with him again. I cannot remember the exact # but it was in the high 90%.
So much for being independent and paying their own way.

It is my experience that men who do not marry can go on and develop hobbies and friends that occupy their time and can lead to a happy life. I don’t think it’s ideal because I think kids are the greatest joy. But I have known many older unmarried men who seem pretty content.
But I find that older unmarried women are always miserable. It’s not the life they wanted and, aside from numerous cats, they have nothing to show for it. Hobbies and friends are not enough to fill the void.
My conclusion is that women need men more than men need women and society is playing a terrible trick when women are brought up thinking that they are “all that” and certainly deserve to land a perfect man in the top 10% of the gene pool. They won’t settle for less and they end up with nothing but misery.
I think feminism has been a big contributor to this — “most men are scum” and “women are the greatest” just leads to women who won’t compromise or settle for anyone less than perfect. The men get on with their lives, but the women settle into misery.
Left wing woman objectify themselves and then complain about being objectified.
I.E. Miley Cyrus Wrecking Ball.
She got what she wanted. She totally wrecked her career.

Artlessly? I don't think so. These women knew they were sex-bombs and knew how to use that to get what they thought they wanted.
And so it is, start with a false premise and go nowhere interesting.
So long has human's reproduce in a biological rather than mechanical fashion, attraction between sexual opposites will rule the planet. It's one of the few true things in biological science.
I have always believed the role of the sexes. Men are providers and protectors, women are nurturers. The insecurities and irresponsibility of the “hot messes” is on them. They can bail themselves out of their makings.
How do Ginger and MaryAnn fit into all this?
Straw person(?) argument, no matter how vehement Feminism is, it cannot change basic human biology! Normal males, especially those of breeding age, will ogle the female! The term 'objectifying' is an application by the LEFT against this action but this is swimming against biology!
Yes, there has been a sad history of females being mistreated and mishandled. Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton & Harvey Weinstein come immediately to mind! All three have demonstrated a past history of 'handling' BUT, for some strange reason, the Feminists, by and large, ignored their objectifications until it got beyond the blinders!
Not too surprising but Ms Burchill is giving Feminists an impossible task and she is no King Cnut!

Pardon me for piling on, but that has also been my experience. A Dutch friend once told me, “Dutch women like to act independant, but behind them is a man with a credit card.”

In other words nothing at all has changed except that now it’s even easier for guys to be aimless whoremasters if they so desire.

I’ve read more than one ‘fun, human interest/relationship story’ from New York City where there are a LOT of women who set up dates for nearly every night of the week. The reason? A free meal only for the price of tolerating some guy so they can stretch their waitress dollars and live in that ‘vibrant and wonderful’ city.... food whores..
