Déjà vu: French scientists detect ANOTHER variant linked to travel to Cameroon and say it carries 46 mutations that may make it more vaccine-resistant and infectious (but it is so far NOT outcompeting Omicron)

Another Covid variant has been found in France, according to scientists.

The mutant strain has 46 mutations that are thought to make it both more vaccine-resistant and infectious than the original virus.

Some 12 cases have been spotted so far near Marseille, with the first linked to travel to the African country Cameroon.

But there is little sign that it is outcompeting the dominant Omicron variant, which now makes up more than 60 per cent of cases in France.

The strain was discovered by academics based at the IHU Mediterranee Infection on December 10, but has not spread rapidly since.

It is yet to be spotted in other countries or labelled a variant under investigation by the World Health Organization.

Professor Philippe Colson, who heads up the unit that discovered the strain, said: 'We indeed have several cases of this new variant in the Marseille geographical area.

'We named it "variant IHU". Two new genomes have just been submitted.'

The variant has been dubbed B.1.640.2 and its discovery was announced in a paper posted on medRxiv. This has not been published in an academic journal.

Scientists say the lineage is genetically different to B.1.640, which is thought to have emerged in the Democratic Republic of Congo in September.

Tests show the strain carries the E484K mutation that is thought to make it more resistant to vaccines.

It also has the N501Y mutation — first seen on the Alpha variant — that experts believe can make it more transmissible.

It is a distant relative of Omicron, which scientists say likely evolved from an older virus.

The scientists say in their paper: 'These observations show once again the unpredictability of the emergence of new SARS-CoV-2 variants and their introduction from abroad.

Until I get more solid info I’m still pulling for Omicron.

...It is a distant relative of Omicron

It’s a second cousin on the mother’s side, related to Aunt Delta.

They made Omicron too weak, so we need to lock down to avoid getting Omicron and wait for the new, stronger variant.

Its the ONLY WAY to maintain Big Pharma profit margins through 2023. The ONLY WAY!

Nasal vaccination against SARS-CoV-2: Synergistic or alternative to intramuscular vaccines?

It is striking that all COVID-19 vaccines against SARS-CoV-2, presently approved by regulatory authorities, are administered by intramuscular injections. These IM injected COVID-19 vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 virus are predominantly designed to produce an IgG and cell mediated responses, preventing viremia and the COVID-19 syndrome. They have been shown to have a high degree of efficacy in humans (70–95%). However, as preclinical studies and as a recent clinical study have shown, they generally provide little protection against viral replication and shedding in the upper airways (38%–49% less likelyhood of passing on the virus compared to unvaccinated people), since such protection requires the presence of a local sIgA immune response.

Anyone else starting to wonder if these alleged variants are a smokescreen to cover-up the vaxxes being designed to provide kinda/sorta personal protection while STILL allowing CoupFlu to spread...?

When will they start reporting on all the variants of the rhinovirus that has plagues mankind for centuries every winter? I mean, it has similar symptoms to Omicran which has everyone so freaked out after all.

Anyone familiar with the history Corona Viruses would understand why there has never been a lasting/successful vaccine for any of them.

Examples are HIV, MERS, SARS1, the common cold (SOME of the 100s of cold viruses are Corona).

I would now include Covid19.

that is my concern- are4 we gonna go through this crap every flu season now because 10’s of 1000’s normally die of the flu? There are congresscritters advocating for ‘permanent masks’ already- and some for ‘increased emergency powers’ - NY just declared that racism is ‘an emergency’ so that it will give her unprecedented power to be a racist herself- towards whites-

The left aren’t even hiding their unhinged lust for powers over the people anymore-

But if it’s that much more transmissible, less likely to be virulent?

The very last sentence of the article?

“”But a growing body of research proves it is also much less likely to trigger severe disease.””

Well, if it is less likely than Omocram, are there any adverse symptoms at all?

.
