I would have called the deli to see if they were open. The sandwich would be fresher if you ordered it when you actually got there. And there would be fewer middle men to increase the price and/or mess up the instructions.
First I read “Atlas Shrugged”, then I read “The Ominous Parallels: the End of Freedom in America”. Since the 80’s, it was clear where we were heading. Trump was an unexpected punch back against the totalitarians. But they took care of him.
Uber drivers unite!
I could go on and on about this, and other, absolutely sh!t companies that were they around 20 years ago. They wouldn’t make it past opening day.
Pm me if you wanna rant. Or be ranted to.
Well…I thought of that after. I had an issue where I don’t have a physical credit card, and it’s easier to do it this way, at least until it comes. It’s hopefully sitting in my PO Box right now. That’s another gripe…it’s tough to find a good deli these days, and this one is terrific.
So why was Uber Eats involved at all?
If you didn't want them to pick it up, what was the point of involving them?
See 24. Sometimes it’s just easier. And Uber eats doesn’t take anything from the restaurant for doing it.
What amazes me is that we grownups allow this circus to continue, and we actually support these companies with our dollars and our time.
***Uber, Facebook, Twitter, etc. all were platforms that performed a service reasonably well and when they became prominent in their industries, THAT was when they chose to get woke and go broke spending your money.
You should have pulled a Joe Biden and crapped you pants in his car…
“Oops.. sorry!..”
It’s the ONLY way to run that kind of business. Do you expect Uber to call every single contracting restaurant every single day to make sure they keeping their posted hours today? The ENTIRE Uber business model is based on contractors (whether it’s restaurants or drivers) managing their relationship with Uber themselves. How do you know you weren’t the first person? I’m sure they have a mechanism for drivers to flag a restaurant as not actually open. But again, that’s all the contractors.
That’s not an Uber issue, that’s a crazy driver issue.
You should have reported the driver, not blamed all of uber.
What did the cops do?
No. Uber is a technology platform. IT should have the ability to detect that a place is closed, or at least not filling orders. I’m tired of this too. If you’re going to slap together a platform then you need to account for inconveniences to your customers. It would be trivial to add that functionality.
I only have one leg, so they had to call an ambulance to physically remove me from the Uber car. The police chief of that particular town is a friend, so between that and my leg, the cops treated me like gold.
I refused to pay for the ride, and I filed a complaint.
How? You say you’re in tech, how, short of reporting from somebody, are they supposed to magically know that a restaurant wound up knot opening today? Go ahead, what’s the magic solution?
Meanwhile, back in reality they CAN’T. Not until an order has failed, or the restaurant self reports.
Uh. Not sure what planet you’re on, but the restaurant has to acknowledge the order. If it doesn’t, say x times, there’s an issue. I’ve been writing software for decades, and that’s not exactly a unique idea.
What McDonald’s do you work at?
We let it go on far too long.
I’m not sure yet if letting them say that men can decide they want to be girls was a ‘jump the shark’ moment or a Tipping Point.
If there is no backlash then they’ve probably won. I actually spent 20 minutes arguing with a liberal crazy woman about whether a biological Girl is still a girl.
Nothing worked. Does she still have uterus? Can she get pregnant? Does she have XX or XY chromosomes? All those arguments were met with “HE, not SHE”, No substantive response.
great! Sorry about the leg, hope you’re okay.
Happy new year
Yeah. But again what if you were the first to order from them today? You’re all about the assumptions and not bothering to think it through. ALL methods Uber has of finding out a restaurant isn’t opened like they said they’d be other than the restaurant self reporting MUST have at least 1 order fail. You put it in there yourself “x times”, well if you were <= x...
I work in software QA. And I understand that all tech has limits.
We are standing in line to get a Covid test because we saw people standing in line to get a Covid test
Oh bull crap. I looked at the place after all this happened. No change. If you’re really in QA I wouldn’t expect you to say something this dense. Yes, Technology has limits, but simply detecting when something fails shouldn’t be one if them.
I belong to a platform that allows me to offer advice to people by the minute. If I don’t answer my phone, not only does it not charge the person but it marks me unavailable. That’s what we’re talking about here Mr. QA.
The diversity nonsense is simply to employ people from certain preferred groups with no private sector value so we can pretend assimilation is working and they have a viable middle class. In the past, these would all be gubmint hires; now gubmint has spread the responsibility for paying them (I won’t say “employing”) under threat of lawsuits.
