A once-obese beagle named Wolfgang got an early start on his New Year’s Eve resolution by getting healthy, making the necessary lifestyle changes and losing over 60 pounds.

The doggo weighed 90 pounds in 2019 when he was first fostered by lawyer Erin McManis and her husband Chad Schatz. Now he weighs 29 pounds.

The two shared on Wolgang’s Instagram a side-by-side transformation pic of his weight loss.

Maybe he lost the weight by running away from Faucis lab testers.

Isn’t the bigger headline that a dog made a New Year’s resolution?

How could you do that to a dog.

Bet she had to have surgery to take up the slack.

I would have expected it to look like a basset hound or bloodhound afterwards.

When you're childless, like my wife and I, you tend to consider your pet a child. I have a 16 year old beagle and she's sweeter than any child I've ever seen. So yeah - calling them parents is no big deal - at least to me.

I follow him on Facebook. Great story. His new family adopts other dogs who need to lose weight. They are doing a great job.

My mom's Bichon got so fat we started calling it “VB” (Volleyball)

My mom got the hint and cut back her pups food, started taking it for more walks (which was good for mom!)

Good point Nick. He could have made that resolution 7 years ago.

We had a 13 inch Beagle like that. They are voracious esters. You have to carefully control their intake. They are supposed to weigh 25 lbs ideally but 29 is about what ours stayed at after the cat died. Previously he would raid the dry cat food as soon as my back was turned and was overweight for years. 😆

Maybe he lost the weight by running away from Faucis lab testers.

The owner just whispered in the dog’s ear, “Fauci’s coming!”, and the little dog would run, run run!

The difference between a fat beagle and a skinny beagle is the money you save at the dog pound after he escapes and runs away again, and again, and again. Fat dogs tend not to have much wanderlust.
