A once-obese beagle named Wolfgang got an early start on his New Year’s Eve resolution by getting healthy, making the necessary lifestyle changes and losing over 60 pounds.
The doggo weighed 90 pounds in 2019 when he was first fostered by lawyer Erin McManis and her husband Chad Schatz. Now he weighs 29 pounds.
The two shared on Wolgang’s Instagram a side-by-side transformation pic of his weight loss.

Lol. No dog in the entire history of dogdom ever “decided” to go on a diet.
I hear ya! We aren’t childless, but at least for now, GRANDchildless!
Our two cats, Coco and Charlie, are our grand babies!🐱🐱
If your dog is fat it means that you are not getting enough exercise.
If your cat is fat it means that you are well trained.
Owners should be arrested for allowing that to happen in the first place
We’re not owners.
We’re staff.
(Dogs have masters, cats have staff.)
And I, for one, welcome my feline overlord!
Golf clap
I laughed. That was a good one.
I understand loving an animal.
I cry when losing mine.
for me a ...but...
That said though, diets excessive with human food scraps and many of the dog food brands with the cute song jingles in advertisements are unhealthy. Yeah, the dog loves it but is being turned into an unhealthy marshmallow. It took me several years to convince my sister to switch dog food brands and this was only successful after one of her dogs passed prematurely from obesity complications.
So, she finally switched from the dry dog food version of candy to Purina One. It's not uncommon for a dog to initially go on a hunger strike when changing foods but if so, this only lasts a couple of days. For my sisters dog, no strike. Over several months, the dog transformed from pudgy to a lean athletic build, shiny coat and muscled up. Much more active and not a lazy potato. They've got several more years of companionship than what would otherwise been the case and the dog gets to be happily active again.
My sister-in-law has a Beagle that is the most food motivated animal that ever lived. Multiple times at family birthday parties she was caught on the dining room table eating the birthday cake that had been left unattended for a couple of seconds. No amount of training or punishment ever made the slightest difference.
